I made it to Lima, Peru on Friday night and laid low in Lima all day Saturday. Took a walk to explore a little then took a nap by the pool. Met up with my physical therapist who had been travelling here (and nearly got stuck in Macchu Picchu with the other 2000 tourists.) She, her friend and I went to this really cool restaurant that is on the grounds of an old temple. The seating is all outdoors, but covered and you sit like three feet from the ruins. So cool!!!
Today, I made it to Cusco and so far everyone i have met is really friendly and helpful. I am living in an unusual house with five other volunteers and a Peruvian couple. My room is kind of make shift with three beds, a piece of plastic sheeting over what looks like an old sky light opening, and two of the walls are solid windows. A dog lives on the other side of one of the windows. Definitely interesting;)
There is a lot of flooding in the surrounding small towns and Macchu Picchu at this point has been closed indefinetly due to a landslide that took out the bridge. Hopefully it will open back up before i have to leave. The surrounding countryside is beautiful though; i can´t wait till i adjust to the altitude and actually get a chance to explore more.
