We arrived at Chiang Mai Bus Staion in the very early hours of the morning. A lady who worked at the hotel, BMP House, where we had arranged to stay at, picked us up in her 4x4. When we got to the hotel it was pretty grotty compared to our luxury hotel in Bangkok but wasn't gonna complain. Sam was slightly peeved that the pictures we saw in the brochures didn't quite match up to what we arrived at but everybody was too tired to complain, we later found out that the photos we saw were from the link hotel which was a little down the road.
After a much needed sleep, we went to the old town for lunch at a cute little café on a mid-roof top bar, called Pooh's Bar, which is a bar/ café/ guest house/ eco trekking company. I had a Pad Thai, which was delicious. We went for a gander around the shops and stumbled across an old Thai man trying to tell Isaac that he liked the big d*** . With a baby doll and a dildo in the shop window, we weren't surprised, cheeky old man.
Then we decided to go for a swim at the link hotel, BMP Resident. We travelled up on the backs of the guys beautiful Honda Dreams, which became a recurring mode of transport in Thailand, as renting them was pretty cheap! Apprehensive to go on Isaac's as he'd never driven one properly before, I decided to risk it anyway, but he managed ok. After a luscious swim, we went to the Sunday market and had nit bits for dinner. Sushi for 5B each! And then topped up with a dim sum for just 60B! Full as. We went to a boat bar for cocktails then to reggae veggie bar called THC (rooftop bar) for more drinks. The atmosphere was very cool and the music was really chilled. A few arm wrestles and G&Ts later and we went back home.
