After meeting Pat and Irene on our return train from Machu Picchu, we took them up on their offer to stay with them for New Year's in Miraflores, Lima. We arrived extraordinarily early again (thanks speeding bus driver!) and didn't have the apartment number, so we convinced concierge to find it for us and let us up. The apartment was incredible. It was literally on the Malecon of Miraflores, overlooking the ocean/sea/water.
We had coffee and eggs and a joint and a cookie at the apartment before walking down the Malecon to Larcomar, the major shopping 'mall' of MIraflores that is built into the cliff face. We stopped for lunch there at an (expensive) Buffet Restaurant called Mangos. After nearly three hours of non-stop, cookie-induced eating, we rolled out and visited Parque Kennedy in downtown Miraflores. Every city we have visited has stray dogs, this was the first we had seen with stray cats. They were everywhere! And so people-friendly too!
That night, we nicked some of their pot and Jeremy whipped together an amazing hot chocolate that was slightly more potent than expected. I fell asleep on the couch while we were all talking , and then, upon falling asleep in bed, had the most amazing pot dreams about sleeping in a bed made out of weed. I think I may have attempted eating the leaves-prints on the sheets at one point, too.
