Day 6
Said goodbye to our friends at Ants Hill and left for the Lapala Wilderness Camp. We met up with the owner at his other lodge which is Ant Nest. While loading up our stuff 3 rhinos wandered in to the front yard because they feed them to try and protect them from poachers . That is a huge problem because rhino horn , believed to cure cancer, among other things ,can fetch more than 500,000 dollars.
We loaded up and headed off to Lapalala, the largest private game
reserve in South Africa. Ant ,our host, took Annie, lilly and Josie on a hike across the Palala river and to the caves to see the 1000 year old bushmen drawings. They hiked for 2 hours and we met up down the river where we all jumped in the rapids with our clothes on body rafted, had a cookout, a rest and then fishing on Hippo Dam Lake and watching the sunset.
Our tented camp is rustic, with amazing views . Lilly- the only thing keeping me calm right now is the iPad I'm freaked out and keep hearing noises there are hardly and lights. At least there's an indoor bathroom. Today we saw lots of animals and got to swim in a river.. The river current would pull us down it was loads of fun.Annie- bush camp is amazing...can't put it into words. Views are spectacular!!!!!!! Josie- I had so my much fun swimming in the rapids today! It was so fun!! And I also had fun on the hike but it was very hard and hot! L
