20/07/08 The Drive to Kalbarri National Park from Cervantes is yet again a boring one. It was750km of long, straight boring roads. The only exciting thing to happen in the journey was when a Road Train Went past and knocked our window trim off with the force of the wind!!! I pulled over and Rach had to lift it up as it had trapped me in, So I just fixed it back on with some Gaffa Tape which seems to have done the trick for the time being.
On the way up to Kalbarri we did stop off at a strange little place called The Hutt River Provence which is not part of Australia (long story). We decided we would go after reading about it in the Lonely Planet book. We turned off the Brand Highway onto a small dust track which we followed for 75km and eventually came to the border crossing. a few kms after that we came to the Provence of The Hutt River (a farm!) where the Prince (Leonard) & Princess (Shirley) Live, both in their 80's. Leonard, or should I say The Prince, was a dear old man who showed us around, showed us all him memorabillia and told us how The Hutt River became a Provence. He even Stamed our passports to say we had entered and left. Aftetr this we went back to The Brand High way and Carried onto Kalbarri.
We came into Kalbarri and booked into a Backedpackers Called Kalbarri Beach Backpackers. We had time to cook dinner then got an early night. The following day 21/07/08 we woke up early so we could take to minute walk to the beach to feed the Pelicans. There was around 6 of them and they would take the fish straight from your hand. Following on from this we went into the National Park to have a look about. This is where we came across Nature's window as per the picture. We also went to Hawks Head and Ross Graham Look outs which gives wonderfuls views of the River Gorges and scenery. Tomorrow we move on to Monkey Mia.
