Arriving back into Singapore on the 30th Aug at around 9pm, the first thing on my list of priorities was to get myself a new phone. We went through customs and headed strat to the transit area where the duty free was. I managed to get a farely decent Nokia for about 70 Pounds which was excellent. With this done we headed down to collect our luggage. We did so and were pulled over by customs for a random bag check. They scanned our stuff and asked Rachel to empty the whole of the backpack, the poor girl, allher dirty underwear etc were sprawled out over the counter and rescanned about 3 times!!! once they were happy that she wasnt part of the Al Qeada carrying explosives they said that she could pack her stuff away and looked at me, to which I said "me next" then the officer said no dont worry about it, I cant be bothered to cause this much mess again. They were actually very apologetic to Rach for having to take all her stuff out. I dont think they realised how much she had! They even helpped her pack everything away again by folding clothes etc.
After all the commotion at the airport we a taxi back to the 7th Story Hotel and seriously needed a few drinks, so we dumped out bags, got ready with a bottle of wine and went down to Clarke Quay to Ministry of Sound. The club is set over 4 floors, all the rooms have different music and it has a really good atmosphere. we had a really good night and stumbled back abit worse for wear at about 5am to the hotel.
Mon 1st sept saw us waking up early and heading over to Sentosa Island to take a look aroun d at Singapores Holiday Island. I dont know what we expected but we didnt expect what we found. It was almost a Island, slight bigger version of Pleasurewood hills, with not as many rides but 10 times the humidity and heat. We caught the tram down to one of the beachs to go to the Most southernly point of the continant of Asia which was good, we got a few pictures there, then got a tram to the other side of the island to watch the Pink Dolphin display and although its always amazing to see how intelligent they are as they respond to orders, jump through hoops and clap thier flippers it also reminds you just how intellegent they are and how sad that these animals should be in pools performing for giggly humans going "OOOOOOOOOH, ARRRRRRRHHHHH" when they should be out in the wild enjoying themselves and doing what they want to not what they have to. After the Dolphins we made our way to the underwater world and experianced feeding leopard rays by hand with pieces of fish. This caused mush laughter and kept us amused for well over an hour. On coming out of the aquarium it was hammering down with rain so we ran to the tram and made our way back to the train to get back to mainland Singapore.
On Tues 2nd Sept we went in search of the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City and the hotel in which my Grandad stays when he visits Singapore. WE found the hotel, we also visited the Singapore Flyer (Exactly like London Eye) had some lunch by the harbour and headed to The Fountain of Wealth. The Fountain of Wealth is the largest fountain in the world and at night it lights up with every color of the rainbow. You can pay to have lazer messages put in to the wall of water. We stayed and watched the fountain for a couple of hours and made our way back to the hotel.
The following Morning, 3rd sept, we met up with Rico, the German we travelled the Gibb with, for the day as he was in Singapore for a few days before he headed off to Toiman and then up through Malaysia. We all had lunch and caught up since that last time we saw him. Later night we all met up again and went for dinner at Clarke Quay to a Tapas Bar and then on for a few drinks in a bar called The C Clinic. As the name states it is set out to look like a clinic with wheelchairs for seats, and IV Drips on stands for shots and cocktails. All very odd but a good laugh. We had a couple of Singapore slings by way of a night cap and made our way back to the Hostel.
On the 4th we pottered about for the day and booked our flight to Borneo also our flight from Borneo onto Kuala Lumper on the 19th Sept. We packed our bags (yet again ready for our flight over to Borneo the next morning. Our flight to Borneo was not leaving from Singapore however, our flight was from Johor Bharu over the Malaysian border about 1 hours drive from Singapore.
