So its my sisters 11th birthday today! And it is today we're heading to the GER camp for a week. Hence why im writing this in the morning, plus i didnt write an entry last night because i felt ill and poorly. I think theres a bug going around.
Yesterday we went to the National History Museuem. After lots of faffing around and buying water to take to the camps etc. It was a very bare bones museum- excuse the pun. No interactive games etc. Although we managed to figure out that the dinasour bones were real unlike the ones in British museums which are replicas. There was a giant stuffed vulture and all it made me think was that if i was half dead and one of these were circling me, id hope that id die quickly.
We also went to a Buddhist Monastry on a hill, with views of skyscrapers on the left and beautiful lush green mountains to the right- only in UlaanBaatar right?
It had lots of prayer wheels which i turned round and said some prayers/thoughts. As we all know im not a religious person, but i would consider myself a spiritual being. So seeing as it was a Buddhist Monastry, i considered it justified. I had a little 5minutes sitting by myself and contemplating. Trying to center myself and feel the calm. It didnt last long though because there was such a big group of us and we were moving on to see the rest of the grounds. I also went in a prayer room, and another building which had LOADS more prayer wheels, and a giant gold statue of a representational Buddah. I bought one of these beautiful scarfs to tie around my scapbook - they represent safe journeys.
We wanted to go to the Ananda(??) Buddist cafe for dinner (the one by the guesthouse) but it was shut when we got there at 7.15- although it isnt supposed to shut until 8. In UB they seem to work on their own time. The day before yesterday we got to the museum at 5 and it wasnt supposed to be closing until 6- but theyd already closed it. We ended up at another cafe with Buddah in the name-although im guessing it was just a name because the menu was all meat. managed to get a margarhita pizza- but it was smoked cheese and i was already feeling fragile so i gave it a miss in the end.
I think Dad was really feeling the lack of male company yesterday, so he was trying to keep to himself a bit- fair enough when theres 6 females around you.
But overall i think yesterday was the day with the least tension and falling out- everyone got on well etc. Im afraid this is going to be it for this entry- its time for the BIRTHDAY BREAKFAST and present opening for kaia. YAY. how exciting xxx

Roz Hi Sophie Read up to date when got back from 'mud pool' at Green Man Festival - watched bands in torrential rain - and Jon did!!! Exciting bartering, persistant 'rich' beggars & dinasor bones, and cocktails. Yep Andy must be feeling like the odd one out - at least he has his hareem with him - that might be a status symbol in Mongolia? Monastry sounds tranquil even in a crowd. Enjoy 'GER' campsite and hope the Birthday Kaia enjoyed her day and presents... be careful return rucksack is already sounding full xxx
