Today was spent traveling via a bus tour to the west coast where I was to visit the Cliffs of Moher, have lunch in Doolin, travel through the Burren, and spend an hour in the city of Galway before returning for the day. Early in the morning around 6am, I arose to head into the city center to catch my bus. It was cold, rainy and grey and really a typical Irish morning. The bus ride out west is about 2 hours each way, and fortunately the weather turned clear and sunny by the time we neared the coast. Our first stop was the small city of Doolin where we stopped to eat lunch. To the shock of you all, I had yet another Guinness, go figure right? We then proceeded to the cliffs of Moher which no words can describe. You will have to view the pictures I took to understand how beautiful it was, but looking through them myself I cannot help but notice that the pictures do not capture the sheer size of these cliffs. Falling would be certain death and at times the path, after you hop a fence keeping tourists in, is sometimes no more than 2 feet wide and inches from the side. We then proceeded to the Burren which is a large area of rock and little vegetation. It was in this area that we viewed an ancient burial site that dates back to B.C. We also stopped at a castle near the water before returning to Dublin. On the way home we viewed a rainbow and I remember a conversation I had a few days prior with my friend who stated that rainbows in Ireland are extremely big, and she was not lying, as this particular one looked as if it could cross the whole state of New Jersey.
