sorry i havn't updated this for a while so this will be a big one.
11th may arrived in london around 8:30am i got held up at customs for 20 minutes then i went to pick up my luggage and found it hadn't arrived from new york. i had all my travel documents in their as well as all my money but lucky i had my credit cards with me. i ended up staying at the hilton just 6 minutes walk away as i didn't want to stay in a room full of other people with no clothes.
12th may i felt really sick today and didn't get any sleep last night so i rang up twice about my luggage and still it hasn't arrived. ended up staying at the hilton another night. turns out it didn't go on my flight from charlotte in america to new york and instead went to philidelphia.
13th may went to airport and finally good news! my luggage arrived around 10:30ish so i rang contiki basement up for my flight information to mykonos and they said they had no record of me and i should of received and email with my flight details but i didn't get it. they told me to go straight to gatwick airport and find out what flight i was supposed to be on. i was too late as the last one left at 3pm but apparently i found out later i was supposed to be on the 7:30am flight and the next one is not going to be till next thursday so i was really peeved off and i had spent around $50 for nothing getting to gatwick. i made the big decision to come home as i was really upseet and i had 7 nights ahead of me without accomodation. ended up staying another night at the hilton cost me around £600, booked a flight for tommorow evening.
14th may left london and headed back home.
16th may arrived back in nz and started sorting out stuff with the travel agent but he advised me that it would be cheaper to go back to london and recomence my journy.
19th may well i made the decision to fly back to london so i fly out today at 6pm
20th may arrived in london went to see the new wimbeldon stadium.
21st may went for a walk throgh hide park and saw princess diana's memmorial fountain. went over to greenwich and crossed the greenwich median line. went and saw the cady sark. someone set fire to it this mornig but not burnt completley out, they rekon that they can fully restore it
22nd may went to buckenham palace and parliment house for a quick look before i went to the airport to go to coppenhagen. bumped into 3 other people from my tour so we shared a taxi to the hostel. we had a meeting this evening to meet the rest of the group. their are 4 canadians, 4 yankies (1 is a really crazy), 2 from singapore, 2 from south korea, 1 from the netherlands, 1 from chilie, 2 other kiwis (auckland and hamilton) and the rest about 14 of them are aussies. the contiki staff; kim the driver from kaiapoi, chris the cook from aussie and che from uk.
23rd may this morning we did a city tour of coppenhagen, i walked up this church which has an outside spiral staircase leading to the very top, went on a canal cruise in the afternoon. most of us went to the hard rock cafe for tea. the prices are very expensive over hear as i orded a steak and it cost me 199DKK ($50NZ ish) and a pint of beer cost around $10.
24th may long drive to stockholm today, got to the campsite anound 6ish had tea and a few drinks before hiting the hay.
25th may had a city tour of stockholm, went to the town hall and parliment house. went to have a drink at the ice bar, the bar itself along with the glasses and seat benches and walls are all ice. after that we went out for tea before returning to campsite to have a few more drinks around 1030pm.
26th may left around 8am to travel to oslo, arrived their at our campsite around 7pm, had tea and made a campfire. their was this old welfare lady with 3 kids that came and joined us, which was fine untill she bought her dog down while dinnner was being served and she asked if she could have some food for her dog (what a joke?) and that wasn't all later on i had a 6 pack of beer sitting beside me while i was sitting by the campfire and she grabbed two beers opened them and starting drinking from 1 of them giving the other to her friend.
27th may went to oslo town and saw the Holmenkollen Ski Jump the highest ski jump in the world then walked around the wharf and into central station. everything shut today apart from restaurants and the like as its sunday over here. went out for tea before being picked up around 8pm. went back to campsite and had a few drinks, 1 of the aussies bought a 5 litre plastic keg of carlsberg beer. he took ages to open it in the end he managed to puncture a hole at the top and we had it sitting over a bowl to drain, when we finished it i had a look at it and found out how to open it, u just had to simply break the seal at the bottom with the hose! (bloody aussies).
28th may left oslo this morning for andalsness and went to lillehammer home of the 1994 olympic winter games, really small town. we went to the ski jump their and then futher up the road we went bobsleeding, but it was on wheels as their wasn't any ice this time of the year. that was really fun our contiki crew team won the time trials by about 10 seconds but i think they stopped the clock somewhere along the line as it wasn't far off olympic records times. arrived at campsite around 5pm.
29th may went on a fjord cruise today but i forgot to bring my camera as it was in my jacket pocket back at camp so ill just have to get others to email their photos. had a snow fight on the way back which was fun, one of the aussies hadn't seen real snow before. went back to camp and made a campfire and had a few drinks.
30th may left early for trondheim (university town) got their around 2pm. we walked through the town before checking in to our hostel around 5pm. we all headed out around 7pm for tea and tenpin bowling, some did their own thing. after tenpin bowling we went to a bar that had cheap drinks, the price of beer here was only an extra dollar over prices back home for a bottle of beer. stayed their till 1ish then tried a few other bars and then back to the 1st bar, most of the group went back to hostel but about 5-6 of us still stayed out eventully crawling back through the hostel doors around 4am in the morning and it was still light outside as it doesent get dark over hear this time of the year.
31st may left around 7:30am for mo i rana, not before going to hell (train station). on the way up i was sitting opposite this crazy american guy and saw him give himself a handjob. well i certainly want be sitting in that seat for the rest of the trip. we arrived at our campsite later that evening around 5pm, played a game of soccer had tea then a few drinks.
1st june we were supposed to and see a glacier today but was canceled because the ferry that took us over was not running for some reason so we had a free day at the campsite to ourselves. about half of the group went to the nearby caves, i didn't go as i've seen the caves back home and looking at some of the photos that were taken it certainly wasn't worth it. so i just chilled out in the sun. two of the canadians went for a swim in the lake which didn't last any longer than 3 seconds as it was water comming straight from the snowy mountains and the water was slow moving so was really cold im going to wait and swim in the arctic ocean should be warmer.
2ndjune left mo i rana for ramfjord crossed the arctic circle and arrived in the campsite around 9pm. had tea they had raindeer and moose but i didn't have it as it had mushrooms in it but i had the moose but i ended up getting the last scrapings of the bowl. that was good because it was made about 1 hour ago with bailys in it and the bailys sank to the bottom so i had a little xtra bailys in mine. after tea we went to this tee pee whic has a fire in the middle of it and for some reason the put sawdust around it for the floor (i just better make sure the fires fully out tonight) we ended up staying their till about 430am.
3rd june left our campsite at around 6:45 to go to hammerfest, arrived their around 4pm and had tea before getting ready to go to see the midnight sun. this was the only time we were allowed to drink on the buss, so we had a 3 hour journy ahead of us to get to nordkapp. on the way up their the weather isin't looking that great its all foggy as we arrive up there with just 2 hours to go before midnight it was allready thick fog and certainly was a no go to see the midnight sun, but we all had a good time on the way up despite it costing me $110ish, we got back to camp around 4am.
4th june got up around 11am had breakfast then did some washing before going for a swim in the arctic ocean with a few others and sure enough it was alot warmer than the river in mo i rana. walked to hammerfest township and joind the polar beer club had lunch and just bumed around for a while then headed back up the hill to our campsite. had tea and saw the sun up till around 11:30pm before going to bed.
5th june left hammerfest this morning traveled most of the day crossing the norway/finland boarder to our campsite in Rovaniemi and we crossed back over the arctic circle arriving their around 5pm. had tea and we took a nz photo with the other 2 kiwis in front of the nz flag they had flying their at the campsite.
6th june left around 8:45 to go to santa claus house their for about an hour, some of you saw me live on the web right on the arctic circle. left their and drove all day to our next campsite in keuruu. had our last cooked dinner their and had a few drinks.
7th june had our last breakfast made by chris (cook) before heading to helsinki around 8am arriving their at 12:30pm. had a 2 hour city tour and then headed to hostel. nearly all of us went out for tea together before hitting the bars and farewelling the rest of the group as we split up and half the group go to russia and the rest of us go back to coppengan. we went to this bar first that sold ?2.50 beers before we later discovered that the bar over the road was offering ?1 beers but pnly till 1am. we then discovered just before that they sold ?1.50 shots all night but they were only a selected cheap brand. i've been told i had at least 10 shots including dowing 6 before leaving the bar. i can vaigley remember downing 6 after and walking into macas after that nothing.
8th june got woken up at 11:30 as had to be checked out of our rooms by 12pm, i kinda wish today didn't exist. did nothing apart form lie on the grass near our hostel before we left at 5pm to go to catch our 9:45 ferry crossing to stockholm which took 9 hours. had dinner on board ferry then had shower before going to one of the bars (water for me tonight) after 12am we headed to the end of the ship to this night club before leaving their back to our cabins around 3:30am.
9th june woke up at 6:30am had breakfast before getting off the ferry around 8am (7am local time). we then headed for the long jorney back to coppenhagen. cooked myself tea and then went out to rossie mc'Gees pub with a vibrating dance floor but it wasn't going when we were there . stayed their till about 2:30am before getting a taxi back to our hostel.
10th june left coppenhagen around 8:30 and took two trains to the airport. went on a flight with 3 others from my tour back to london arrived in lonson at around 12pm. made my way to london gatwick were i boarded a plane to ibiza. left london at arround 9:45pm so its been a long day. arrived in ibiza at around 1:15 and took a taxi to my hostel.
11th june i hired a scooter out cost me ?20 for 24 hours so i spent all day looking over the whole island checking out some of the beeches including the optional "bring ya b'day suits" ones took a few photos. went back to where my hostel is and went out for tea along the popular beach for the evening as you can see the sun go down which i just missed it by a few seconds, would of been an awsome photo opportunity. you can also see people parasainig in the distance and water sking etc. after tea i went back to my hostel, got changed and took the "snailmobile" (scooter) to have a look at club privilidge (the worlds largest club) and amnesia (they fill this pub half way with water by just continualy spraying water over everyone untill closing time. unfortunally amnesia wasn't open until next week but i had a look at club priviledge. well just as well i didn't buy any drinks here as it costs around ?8 for a beer and ?15 for a bourbon and mix, thats nearly $30 for a bourbon i could get 5 of those back home for that price. left club priviledge at around 3 am in the morning and i locked my keys under the seat where the storage is for the lock, but i managed to tilt the seat one way and reach down and take the keys from the lock which they were still on their. i then went to this other one but their was no one in their so i went back to the hostel around 4am.
june 12 left hostel at around 8:30 and took the "snailmobile" back and then took a taxi to the airport. i arrived in london at 12:30 and then made my way up on the train to edinburgh arriving their around 8:30pm. the hostel is only 3 minutes walk away from the station. checked into hostel they had a really good canon camera their for £50 which i bought as mine was falling to bits and wasn't working very good, had tea and went to bed.
june 13th went to edinburgh castle today took about 80 odd photos with my new camera, takes good photos inside. after that i went on the train for a journey up the scotland coast and back.
