th june I went to get on my tour today of the roslyn chapel and glenkinchie distillery, but the tour had been canceled and they had tried to get hold of me. they said i will get a full refund with sta travel which is good. so i ended up going accross the road to the scotch wiskey society and did a tour round their and saw how whiskey was made, then i went to glenkinchie distillery and saw the real thing. i took the bus their but it only went so far then you had to get a taxi or walk so i just walked it took around 1/2 hour and was a 1 3/4 mile walk. i arrived at the distillery and went on the tour which took about 1/2 hour, we got to have a wif of the vats and i sniffed up a bit too much which kicked me back a bit. after the tour we got to tase some. their was a couple on the tour with me and the guy shot his back as quick as and said that every sunday he would put back a bottle of the stuff (crazy). after the tour i walked back to the bus stop and went back into edinburgh.
th june left edinburgh on the train to go back to london it took around 6 hours. arrived in london around 3pm and checked back into my hostel. went out and picked up my two day london sightseeing travel pass and then went to the "kiwi" store and bought a nz flag and was tempted to buy some speights but i couldn't be bothered to carry them around. after that i went to the vodka ice bar london whic is much better than the one in stockholm, apparently theirs one in queenstown but isn't part of this group.
th june went to chelsea stadium and had a tour around their and had a drink at the pub where the meeting was held to form the chelsea football club. i went to see the changing of the guard at buckingham palace but it wasn't on but instead the queen's offical birthday was on so i was lucky to see that. i missed out on most of it but got to see her at the end and saw the planes fly over including one at the end which had blue and red smoke comming out the back of them. at the end of the ceremony it absolutely hammered down with rain, so i got a bit soaked. after that i went to see wimberly stadium but missed out on the tour their as they were just closing up, on the way back i bought some chips at the original fish 'n' chip shop but the ones back home are much better and are these ones were three times the price once converted back into kiwi dollars.
th june i went to see the lords cricket ground but they had a game of cricket on so i didn't get a tour around the ground. i then went to see the changing of the gurds but that wasn't on again instead it was the 25th anniversary of the falklands war and i got to see prince william, harry, andrew and charles alson comila parker bowls and someone fletcher. i stayed to watch that as well which stuffed up my day again but i thought i could do those things when i come back to london after my contiki tour and that these events were a once off event. on the way back to the hostel my hat got blown off onto the tracks in the underground after a train went past, it was just between the first rail and the platform so i lent down to see if i can pick it up safely but the platform was too high so i pressed the help button at the help point on the platform but i pressed the emergency button instead so i was kinda s***ing myself at this point but it was taking that long before someone replyed, so i just went up to the ticket office and he said to go to the supervisors office. the guy said not to worry about the alarm it just goes directly to the police which didn't make me feel any better for pressing it. well i went to the supervisors office he came down with me to pick it up and thanked me for seeing him instead of doing it myself, he said their alot of people who do it all the time.
th june went on a sightseeing bus trip around london and then went back to my hostel to check out and get my stuff to catch a train/ferry to dublin. i just missed the train by 3 minutes, so i had to get the next on which wasn't till 7:30 that night and my ferry crossing not till 2:40 in the morning. so i spent the whole day at the station because i couldn't go and see anything of london as i had all my luggage with me. well i manged to get the train on time and arrived in holyhead around 11:30 pm and had to wait for a 2:40 sailing to dublin.
th june caught the ferry to dublin ok and arrived their around 6am then took a bus to the rail station close to my hostel. the hostel is s*** it has toilets that don't have any seats and the whole place is a dump. i couldn't check into their untill 3pm so i had to leave my luggage in storage till then. so i had breakfast and took a hop on hop off bus around dublin and went to the guiness factory and had a self guidedtour of the factory and got a free pint of guiness and a souvenair. after that i went to see the smallest pub in ireland and had a drink. i went to my hostel and checked in, the beds were ok but they only supplied one sheet for some weird reason. at night i went on this pub crawl and for some reason they charge your credit card in your on currency and i got the receipt back (which i will keep as a momento) and for 1 bottle of heinekin cost me $10.27 which was a bit of a kick in the guts. their was this american family i meet in the smallest pub that were doing the same tour as me and for some reason they thought they could bring their 2 little kids with them. they weren't allowed into the second pub so their was just the granny and the husbund that continued with the rest of the tour. from the second pub the guy bought shouted me drinks for the rest of the tour so that $10.27 beer didn't feel as bad now after i had 3-4 free ones. after we left second pub it hammerd down with rain and we ended up loosing the rest of the group so we just went to this pub and had a drink before heading home to bed.
