th june left hostel around 6am as i didn?t trust the timetable on the internet for the trains and ferry crossing as it said to catch the 8:20 bus which will arrive at the ferry port around 8:45 and my ferry leaves at that time which i thought was a bit strange and the ferry actually left about 20 minutes early so im glad i didn?t go with those times. i got the ferry ok and went on the train back to london. the train arrived in london around 6:30 so i went straight from the train station to my contiki meeting where i got my wallet stolen. there was 3 different other tour groups their so it may not of been anyone from my tour. after the meeting i went to my hostel then onto the police station before going repacking my bag so im under the 20kg limit (i was about 130grms over).
st june got up around 5:30am and walked to the contiki basement to start my tour. we got on the bus and headed for the white cliffs of dover to take a ferry over to france. on the way i canceld my credit card and eftpos card, i couldn't get though to them last night. we boarded the ferry allright and their was this money place where you can get cash advances, i didn't want to put my card in an atm in case it ate it as that was all the money i had. well i handed the card over and they put it through and the lady said that they had hand the card back to the bank. so she cut it up right then and their in front of me leaving me with know way of getting any money. so i rang the bank to find out what happened and they said it had been canceld, so it turned out that they had canceld the wrong card and my visa was still active so i quickly got that canceld and got them to send me new cards. i got mum and dad to wire me some money over which il pick up in paris tommorrow. we left the ferry and drove up to paris to our campsite. we put up our tents, had tea and went into paris for a city tour. we went into this roundabout in the centre of paris which has 12 roads coming into it with no stop signs or give way signs and traffic in the roundabout have to give way to traffic coming in it. also cars park really close together over here and we all saw a car trying to get out and had to push the other car out with her front bumper looked really funny. we also saw a mini totally wedged in between two cars someone got a photo of it so im going to get a copy of it.
nd june left to see the Château Versailles then into the city today which was raining really hard so i went into the first store that sold umbrellas and bought a small umbrella which worked well, i picked up my money allright so im a bit more happyer now. i went on the hop on hop off bus and got off to see notre dome. after that i hoped back on and went around the loop to where we are going to get picked up but we couldn't get thru the traffic so the driver droped us off short of the next stop far away from my stop. well i wasn't going to get to were i wanted to go by 5pm to catch the bus back to camp so i had to make my on way back to camp by the train and then a short bus ride to the campsite. i arrived at the train station to catch the bus back to the campsite and nearly ended up getting on the wrong bus and i just missed the bus i was supposed to get so i had to wait half an hour to catch the next one. i asked the bus driver how much it was and he told me in french so i asked again and got the same result so i said in english which he replied "you're in france" followed by the price, why he did that i have know idea as he knew what i was saying. arrived back at the campsite about 7:30 and i knew i had missed dinner at 6pm but i was lucky as the were serving up dinner as i arrived but appently they only arrived 15minutes ago as they got stuck in traffic for 2 hours. lucky i missed my bus because i would of arrived before them and thought that they had left to go back into the city to go up the eiffle tower, but we went their around 8:30 ish.
rd june went and saw the Arc de Triomphe and the bridge were diana died after that i didn't much more. i went to one place for lunch and they had a guy at the bar reading a paper with his dog inside (so much for hygene around here) food prices are really expensive over hear i spent 5 euro for a very small plate of chips them beer is 9 euro for a pint. got to the bus early and we left around 4pm to the campsite. we left to go out again a couple of hours later to have dinner and a carbaret show. we had dinner at this restaurant which was a set 3 course meal and they keeped giving us bottles of wine which was all included in the price i think we probably got a few free ones. i orded snails for my 1st course which i didn't eat (wasn't drunk enough to try them lol). the waiters were really funny and when we left they were getting kisses on the check by the girls and then turning their heads at the last minutue so they ended up kissing them on the lips, a few girls weren't that impressed but didn't kick up a stink. after that we went to this cabaret show which was well worth going to see they had dancing, a couple of people doing tricks and a few topless women. after the show we went back to the camps site and hanged around in the bar for a bit.
th june left early to travel to bourdox, on the way we went to see the Château Chambord a palace which has over 468 bedrooms and 300 somthing bathrooms none which are being used i think. we arrived in bourdox around 5pm which we stayed in a hostel as their is no campsites in bourdox. they gave as 10 euro to spend on dinner because the dinner they serve in the hostel is not that good apparently so we got dropped off on the other side of bordoux to have dinner.
th june another early start as we head off into spain to go to pamplona after stopping of in Biarritz for lunch and a few people went for a swim. we arrived in pamplona around 3pm and did a walking tour around the route of the running of the bulls before going to our campsite. we had about 1 and 1/2 hours in pamplona before getting on the bus again. a group of us all went to try out sangaria (a spanish drink). it cost us 48 euro for 3 jugs but we split it up between us which cost about 3 euro each. it only costs about 2 euro for 750ml bottle of the stuff so they are making about $80 bucks on that sale. we arrived in our campsite around 6pm and went for a swim and then had tea.
th june left early today and headed for barcolona. on the way we stoped of in this town to have lunch, their was this woman breast fedding her baby and begging for money which she was rather persistant but i didn't give her any money. we arrived in barcolona around 7pm and pitched up our tents and headed for the beach. their was really strong waves and i nearly broke my nose again when i got tossed around in the surf. i realised when i got out that their was probably flags futher down the beach about 200 metres away, yet we had about 5 of us who were life guards still continued to swim their (i don't know how they become qulified, probably from a weet-bix box) went to bed early today.
th june went to the city and did a drive around the city and went for a quided walk with our tour manager and went to this place where they shot dead over 2000 people just because of their views on vairous stuff like parliment etc. after that we wnt to see this large collection of stuffed animals, mamals and birds which was really good to see. went and got lunch before watching the americas cup. tonight we went to see a flaminco dance and then out to tea. we walked down the strip and their was a few bar staff standing in front of the bar offering cheap drinks and one said if we were from contiki and offered us a free drink while the other one gave us 3 euro cocktails all night. i had a tea at pizza hut which filled me up i bought a jug of sangari for 6 euro alot cheaper than the other place we wnet to. we all went out for drinks and caught taxis home when we wanted to, one bar i asked for a bourbon and lemonade and they served me bourbon and lemon which spoiled a 9 euro drink, i wasn't impressed but we didn't stay their long. we went to a few other bars before i went home with a few other people around 2am while others stayed out till around 5 or 6 in the mornig.
