th july today we went on a boat to venice this morning. we spent the whole day their seeing a glass blowing demonstration they have some really cool pieces of glass overhere but a bit pricey and we also went to a lace making demonstration. the lace shop that we went tois the only manual lace makingplace in venice all the rest are done by machine, the government wanted to keep the manual lace making going so they fund that shop so they can afford to pay their workers and keep prices down as it can take up to 3-4 weeks to complete a piece of lace. after that we walked around venice for a bit had lunch and went on a gondorla ride around the canals and we saw the only female gonderlea. we left around 6:30 and went back to the campsite had dinner and i went to bed early. we all got woken up by fireworks being set off right beside one of our tents from someone off one of the other contiki tours.
th july we got up early today, had breakfast and put down our tents. we spent all day in the bus travelling to veina. we got stuck in traffic for about 1 1/2 hours. we arrived at our campsite around 6pm, we set up our tents and then headed out to prater (an ammusement park) we had three hours their to have tea and go on the rides. i went on the oldest runnig ferris wheel in the world. after that we went back to the campsite and had a few drinks before going to bed.
th july today we headed into town and did a driving and walking tour of the city and then free time to check out the sights. i lost my map of the city and got a bit lost, but i could sort of remember where we had to go to get picked up. so i managed to get on the right road but looked down this street and saw the coach parked their so i walked down their and jumped on. it wasn?t the meeting point but i was on the coach anyway. after that we had a tour of a schnaps factory and got to try a few samples. after that we headed back to the camp for tea and a few people went back into town to a mozart concert but i didn?t go.
th july we had an early start as we left veina and headed for munic. on the way we stopped off at an old concentration camp and saw a video of what went on back then with all the terrable treatment and killing of innocent people. after that we arrived in munich and put up our tents before heading back into town. we had about an hour to have a look around the town before we headed to a beer hall for dinner and a few stients of beer. the waiters here could carry 11 at once.
th july today we got up early and headed for the swiss alp. we stopped off along the way for lunch and some of us got our passports stamped for ?1,50 (the place we stopped off was a small country next to switzerland like the size of monaco. we then crossed the boarder into switzerland. when we arrived at our campsite the road crew were deciding on weather or not to play a joke on us that they have done on other tours. they were going to tell us that they turn off the waterfall every now and then and it is a good photo opportunity to take when the water is halfway comming down. apparently other tours have been fooled by it but it certainly wouldn?t work on me and a few others in the group. we then put up our tents and had tea.
th july today we headed up jungfrau mountain on the cog railway. we saw some amazing scenery'along the way. we got up to the top which is 4115 metres above sea level, we had a snowball fight and had a walk through the ice pallace (which is tunnel of ice with sculptures made out of ice of penguins and polar beers etc. i also went snowboarding and i managed to get up this time but have to work on my turning and stopping so i dont end up kissing the snow. we spent about 3 hours snowboarding before heading back down the mountain. we were the last few people left from our group to come back. when we got down the mountain it was raining and we had a 15 minute walk to the campsite and by the time we got 1/2 way their it poured down with rain, so when we got to our campsite we were absolutely soaked.
th july today our cook sleeped in so we had to get our own breakfast out of the cook tent . im nursing a really burned face after i forgot to put suncream on but bought a pair of sunglasses after i forgot mine so i now look like batman. today we are driving to heidelburg . we arrived out our campsite around 3pm and a few people chose to upgrade to a cabin for an extra ?5 each but i chose to stay in my tent. after we pitched up our tents we headeds into town for a look around and i went back early because i didn?t want to walk around any longer with my burnt head'and i needed to make use of the free internet at our campsite.
