On Monday morning we woke up way before the sun came up because we were going on the Game Drive, more commonly referred to as a land safari. We set out on our journey around 6:30am with our guide, Bernard. We hadn't been driving but for maybe 15 minutes when something caught my eye, so I shouted for Bernard to stop. We reversed the car and I spotted a leopard!! It was AWESOME!!!!! He was just lying in a ditch near the side of the road and Bernard told us that he must be waiting to hunt. The wild cats like lions and leopards usually hunt at night or before the sun comes up, so we were there at the right time!
After seeing the leopard, we continued on for quite some time, always keeping our eyes peeled for other animals. We saw lots of kob (which are like deer), warthogs, vultures, and baby lions and hyena!!!! The baby lions were so cute because they were wrestling around with each other, and the whole time we were watching them I was wondering when the mama lion was!! After watching the baby lions for a while we continued on our safari. The next animal we came across was a hyena!! It ran right in front of our car and we thought for sure it was going to attack one of the kob, but it didn't. After being on our safari for almost 4 hours, I would definitely say that I definitely got my $15 worth!!
When we got back to the resort, we had a very nice breakfast with Sister Lillian and then hopped in the car for our ride back to Fort Portal. Along the way I put in my iPod and listened to some of my favorite music and then just looked out the car windows. I was trying to just relax after our busy weekend and take in as much of the beauty as I could. I remember telling myself how lucky I am to be here. I don't know if I've mentioned before how beautiful the landscape is here, but it is by far one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen. No matter which way you look, there is always lush green flowing hills. There are more types of trees here than I can even count and the natural beauty of this country is absolutely breathtaking! I would just like to thank everyone who supported me on my trip and please know that I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!
