On Sunday we all woke up fairly early and had a good breakfast before we set off on our way to Queen Elizabeth National Park for our Safari!! Along the way we stopped at the equator sign and of course took the classic tourist pictures with one foot in each hemisphere. It was really neat to see that and know that I was actually in two places at one time!
Shortly after stopping at the equator, we arrived at the park. Once we checked in we had to drive a few kilometers until we arrived at the resort. And boy, was it well worth the drive. The resort was absolutely beautiful (thank you Saint Mary's!!). The six of us got to stay in the cottage which was basically our very own house and it was so cute. Right after we got there we had lunch and then headed down to the water for the Launch, which is a water safari!! It was so cool to see all the different animals in their natural environment and to see them up close. I'm sure you're wondering what kinds of animals I saw…. Well, we saw cape buffalo, hippos, crocodile, lots of birds, AND ELEPHANTS!!!!!!!!!!! All of the animals were beautiful, except the elephants were definitely my favorite!!! They were actually the last animals we saw and they were playing in the water. We got close enough that we thought they would try to spray us with water, but rest assured because we avoided it. The Launch was definitely an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.
Later on that night we all got dressed up and had a very nice dinner together at the resort. We went to bed pretty early too, because we had to wake up early the next morning for our final safari!!!
