Day 10 Mt Kinabalu
We set off from the base at 9am it is now 2:30... I am Fu*ked! Anyone who tells you this kind of thing is invigorating punch them in the face!
In fact punch them twice!
I have walked 6 kilometres and I am at 3250m above sea level... I was not built for altitude... Or slight inclines.
The summit accommodation is a shared dorm and they are all ready cooking my dinner!
It's great to see Carol & Dave, Triv & Karen and Chris here at the camp with us. It's fantastic to think that only a week ago I didn't know any of these people and it was such a boost to see them!
We are sat waiting for the porter to arrive with our dry stuff before I go cotch out on the bed.
We must have got a duff porter. I got passed by one of them wearing crocks, smoking a fag, with a backpack made out of a piece of wood some old seat belts as straps and a load that was at least five times the amount I was carrying.
The rest of the group is starting to arrive now... I don't know if it's a shared sense of achievement or shared sense of pain!
The views from here are just fantastic! I was taking some pics but had to go change lenses because the one I was using steamed up because I sweated on it earlier!
I have to say I was badly slowing up on the last kilometre but I really couldn't come this far and quit. We can see the summit so clearly from here it looks deceptively close!
(just found out it's not the summit! Bast*rds)
