Another airport nightmare happened today. We got up very early to go to the airport to get a plane to Sydney, and after checking in, getting our boarding card and waiting a few hours for the plane, found it had been cancelled. We managed to get another plane at around lunchtime, getting to Sydney for early mid-afternoon. Walking down to the harbour was unreal. Seeing both the bridge and opera house - one of the most iconic views in the world - made me realise I had actually arrived on the other side of the world! After walking around the opera house, we walked over to the bridge, and climbed up one of the pylons. The views of the harbour were amazing! We ate at the Opera Bar, sitting outside looking over at the bridge.
Our second day in Sydney began with the most beautiful buffet breakfast I have ever had. There was literally a choice of anything. We wandered down to the harbour front, caught a ferry over to Manly and walked along the beachfront. After getting the ferry back, we got on one of the 'Hop-on Hop-off' buses which was brilliant. It gave an idea of where everything was in Sydney, along with a great commentary explaining the history of the places we passed. In the evening, we went to Darling Harbour to explore and then ate just along from where we ate the night before, again overlooking the harbour and the bridge.
The final day in Sydney began with the same amazing breakfast, before we caught the second half of the tour bus thing to Bondi Beach. After a quick walk along the seafront, we caught the bus back towards the city centre. As we were driving, the views over the city and harbour were breathtaking. After a bit of present buying for the family (got a while to wait to see what I've got you), we had a quick drink at the Opera Bar before getting a taxi out to the airport. Arriving back in Melbourne, we had a quick tour of the CBD on the way back from the airport, and then had a lovely Mexican meal. Just sorted out the photos from the last few days, and now just chilling watching Wimbledon.
