Today was a free day to do what ever we want that wasnt already on the itenery.. Most the group went off to the Tiger Temples while the rest stayed at the pool. Since neither appealed to me i decided on organising a day trip of my own. So at 10:30 i caught a train from Kanchanaburi Train Station for 100 Bath (£2), to go to Tham Krasae Bridge 2hrs down the line. The trip took me over the Famous Bridge on the Kwae whic was a nice experience, then it continued off through a mixture of paddy fields, forests and uplands until we reach our location. The bridge in question is an original bridge built by the POWs during the construction of the Death Railway. This bridge is pritty much untouched since the end of the war, the train has to slow to a 5mph maximum speed to avoid any accidents. Once at the destination there was an opportunity to walk back along the bridge to get a closer look at its construction and current condition. Personally ive seen stronger scaffolding!! lol
After about an hrs its time to do the return journey. Long hot day but well well worth it..
