And, true to our luck, our flight was delayed 35 minutes! At least the delays are getting shorter! It meant we didn't arrive into JFK airport until about 4:20pm and so we got stuck in peak hour traffic. It was terrible! But we got a great look at the city and we drove through Times Square the day before the big celebration and the place was buzzing. There were already so many police and cameras and the stages were being set up and people were just watching...so many people!
Our hostel is not too bad...right across the road from the 10th Precinct so we'll see how busy a night it is tonight...not a peep so far! After we had checked in, we headed out for the Empire State Building but didn't have a camera so we decided to head for a movie but couldn't find a cinema so we wandered around for a bit. We found Macy's and the Christmas store front and windows are all still up and look fantastic (although Saks was better!!) And Herald Square, across the road is all dressed up in lights as well, with lights that look like rain falling through the trees. We also fought our way through Times Square and then headed back to bed by 10pm...need our rest if we're going to stay up tomorrow!! Although I now realise it's 11:15pm so so much for an early night.
