We have been busy relaxing and not doing too much so there has not been much to keep you up to date on. We have been seeing a few of the bars of Nashua and surrounds and wandering through woods, except Sunday....
On Sunday, we took a road trip to Boston. It took about 45 minutes to drive there from where we were staying....all I can say is that I wouldn't want to do it in peak hour! We parked underneath the Boston Common which is like Boston's answer to Central Park (even designed by the same guy who designed Central Park) and wandered through the park to the Cheers bar where the exterior shots for the show were filmed (it was called the Bull & Finch when it was first used but is now Cheers). It is very touristy but we had lunch there anyway!
We then took a wander through the streets of Boston seeing some of the sights. We saw Massachusetts State Hall, both the old and new City Hall, loads of statues of a few really old churches from the 1600's, Quincy's Market, Pauniell Hall and the Atlantic Ocean (it was almost warm enough for a swim =P)
We also visited Paul Revere's house (he's the guy who snuck out of Boston to warn Samuel Adams that the British were coming). They've furnished the house as it would have been when his family lived there (he had 16 children!) We also wandered through other sites, such as the church where they put the candles in the window (I can't remember what it's called =( and numerous cemetaries.
We then got on the T (it's Boston's answer to the subway but quite a bit different...creaks like you would not believe...you should really be given ear plugs when you get on) and headed out to Fenway Park. Obviously, it's not baseball season so we just had a look around outside. We then headed to an amusement place to do Tombs. You have a guide and you have to solve puzzles that the pharaoh gives to you to get through these rooms to get out. It was lots of fun, even if there were times I screamed because they kept turning the lights out or blowing air onto your legs....I'm such a wuss! We managed to save everyone though, so that was good =P
We then went to Harvard Square, where Harvard University is situated. It was getting late and also it's Christmas break so while there are shops and cafes around, there's not much else that can be done!
We then headed home to Nashua and spent Monday packing and went for a walk (that ended up being over 3 hours long as we went the long way) in the woods. One of the rivers was frozen over. People had dropped rocks the size of watermelons from the bridges and the ice still hadn't broken....we still didn't trust walking on it though!
