To start with, i would like to request that someone in my beautiful and very large family is reading snippets of my blog to Grandaddy!?? This is very important to me!! thankks!!!
So after two hectic weeks in Rio we headed back to Jana's in Sao Paulo for a few days to get a little bit of rest (not easily done in a room of 24 people) and to spend some more time with Jana and the rest of her amazing family!
We were very spoilt with food, beds and a bbq by a swimming pool - it really was an amazing two days! Jana, Giovanna and well everyone send their love to everyone (that they know haha)....especially you Grandad!!
Our next stop after Sao Paulo was Foz do Igacu..which for those who don't know is a huge, natural and beautiful waterfall thats borders three countries, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. This was a long 16 hour bus journey away so we decided to do it overnight - not the most comfortable nights sleep i've ever had to say the least but we got their in one piece which is always good! We dumped our stuff at our hostel and decided to go and check out the Brazilian side of the falls straight away seeing as the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! Of course, as soon as we stepped foot off the bus into the National Park the heavens decided to open! grr! Thankfully it only lasted for about 10 mins and then the sun started to shine once again!
The Brazilian side of the falls is really beautiful and get better and better as you go along! It's very picturesque, every corner you take there is another fall and as you work your way through the park you get closer and closer to the falls until you reach 'the devils throat' where you are metres away from it...the sheer pressure of the water is crazy and you end up being soaked through, its awesome!!
In total we spent around 3 hours in the park then headed back to the hostel in search of food! As we'd been on a bus all night, we'd had no brekkie, dinner and as per usual had forgotten about lunch so we went in search of food! and omg, we found the most amazing restaurant - mega pizza! All you can eat pizza fopr 12 Real (4 pound) as well as chips, cheesy bites and chicken wings which was great for the girls who eat meat ha! It was amazing, the waiters came round with trays and trays of pizza, all different flavour, including chocolate! Unfortunately none of us could have that as we have given up chocolate and crisps for lent! Many of you may ask why on earth i have given things up for lent being Jewish and all - the answer is, being supportive of my friends, and its not fun eating ruffles alone hehe!!
So anyway, the following day we lazed around the pool area for a bit! The plan was to move across to Argentina early afternoon but we got sidetracked by Subway (yumi sandwiches) and then the 47degree heat really stopped us from doing anything! It was just too hot to move so we didnt move over until around 4ish when we caught a cab over the border! we've decided the cabbie, who we named pablo has the best job can you imagine going home everyday and someone asking you..wjhat did you do today - o me, i went across to Aregentina! awesome i tell you!
So anyway, crossing the border we nearly had some issues in that i thought i'd lost my form that you fill out on the plane - not cool i know - i got very paniced! Especially as i always think i can blag my way out of everything, i've started telling all the bus people by passport is in the bottom of my big bag just so i dnt have to get it out every 5 seconds - usually works but at the border (where i did actually try that excuse haha) it surprisingly didnt work! thank god i found it, i was getting very paniced! anyway...then we were in Argentina! wooop go us!! moving country to country on our own, and who thought the world was done for letting us out into it - fools i tell you haha!!
We were staying in the most amazing hostel by the Argentinan falls - Hostel Inn, more like a hotel! it's huge, has it's own pool, huuuge bar area and just plain amazing!! As we didn't arrive until early evening, we went to visit the falls the following day!!
The Argentinian side is much more geared towards tourists with a whole section of the park selling wooden animals, instruments and stuff along those lines, o and yumi banana ice cream hehe!! We caught a little train that goes at 5km an hour to one part of the falls...the devils throat but from a different angle! as we walked up to the falls, the water was so ridicuously calm and we saw a Crocadile which i was very excited about! But once we got the the throat, it was insane!!!!!! Water was just crashing down infront of your eyes and a rapid pace and making such a loud noise! It really is a breath taking view - words can't describe it!! I stood there for a long time just staring at it - we really do live in a beautiful world!!!
After, we caught the slow train back to the other main trails which you walk along and every 3 minutes there is the most spectacular view with more falls than the last view - and it's so tranquil and heavenly its just amazing (apologies for saying amazing a lot in this blog ha).
The Argentinian side is much more intense and you get close up to every fall you see to the point that sometimes you feel like your right under it with all the spray coming at you. We couldn't afford to do any of the boat trips directly under the falls and of course us being us we missed the free boat trip by 5 mins (walter the watch had stopped working, sad time i know). In total we spent about 5 hours at the falls, and feeling very hot and sweaty we returned to the hostel and jumped into the pool which was warm, so not refreshing at all - can't say i was best pleased! I did however play a game of volleyball, not my sport! I did manage to hit the ball occasinally but the whole jumping out the water thing didnt really work for me! o well hahaha!!
That night we got a new roommate who was absolutely beautiful not gonna lie! A kiwi...he thought we were nutters, his exact words were 'i've never walked into a room like this before haha', not really sure what was so strange, Lorna was just plaiting my hair! Anyway, that night, after being forced to do shots (we werent really forced, infact pretty certain it was our suggestion haha) we were rather drunk and all ended back up in the pool until about 3.30am!! ooopsss!!
Next day - on the move again, this time to Beunos Aires! Very excited for this, heard such amazing things!! Although it was a long journey it was the best most single amazing journey of my life - no jokes! Argentinian buses are the s*** people!! seriously, we need to get us some of them in England! They have fully reclining seats, pillows, blankets, hot food (Jermey and Meryl - who love plane food, we had keesh, bread rolls, cake, crackers, the girls got meat and rice, then for brekkie there were croissants hehe), free drinks - i had me some glasses of champs and films!! New films, it was AMAZING!! most pleasant 18 hours spent on a journey i must say! Very excited for more bus journeys in Argenitna now! wooop!!
So now we are in Beunos Aires - very different feel to it than Brazil but a good one, think we're really going to like it here - whats not to like, its a crazy city that comes alive at night AND it has Kosher McDonalds, yup - think im gonna live here haha!!
Lots of love to you all
