Well folks - this is it - the final blog! After 24 hotels, 10 flights, 20,550 miles, 200+ mosquito bites and 4 umbrellas (all Sheryl's)! We have used plane, train, bus, bemo, coach, tuk-tuk, becak, motorbike, van, taxi, trishaw, boat, longboat, cable car, funicular, ferry and of course - our legs! We took 10,124 photos, we had just 4 days illness - all mine, we scaled 3 volcanoes and trekked 3 rainforests. Saw wild Orang Utans, crocodiles, eagles, macaques, silver leaf monkeys, dolphins, proboscis monkeys, elephant, snake, monitor lizards, geckos, fireflies, bugs, beetles and giant butterflies, frogs (in the restaurant opposite!) and pitcher plants, giant ferns, miniature orchids, and tall, old rainforest hardwood trees. We saw the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, Borobodur, Prambanan and Plaosan. Natural wonders like Sipiso-Piso waterfall, lake Toba, Gunung Bromo and Ijen crater, rainforests of Borneo and the mangroves of Santubong. Exotic foods eaten include crispy frog, fish ball soup, oyster omlelette, chicken-rice balls, dragon fruit, mangosteen, papaya salad, banana-leaf curry, teh-tarik, salak (snake skin fruit), nanas-mix, garlic nuts, crab, unusual mushrooms, kailan, jack fruit, kaya, karedok, durian spring roll, radish cake, loong kee, octopus balls, yam coins, otak-otak, goreng campedak, Melaka egg tart, jungle herbs and chocolate sprinkles on toast. Foods such as N & S Indian, Cambodian, Thai, Indonesian, Peranakan, Sarawak, Lebanese, Chinese and Japanese. Thanks to everyone who read the blogs, viewed the photos and sent us messages, we really appreciated it 6,000 odd miles from home and family. In the 3 months in Asia we had only the odd 45min-1hr of rain on any day, not bad!!! As we already knew, we are perfectly matched, we spent almost every minute of the 3 months together and had nothing but fun and excitement - with no cross words or skirmishes - it was the fastest 3 months of our lives. What have we missed?... you our friends and family, pavements, bacon butties, a cool breeze but not much more. We look forward to sharing some of our stories and catching up with you all. We hope you will share our upcoming adventures next year too - hopefully similarly exotic and exciting - with even Better photos! All our Love Paul & Sheryl x ps. Lucky Sheryl got us both a Business Class upgrade KL to Dubai for free!! Awesome!
