Thanks for the message, I will try and live up to Floyd's standards.
Paul's evening photos of the Petronas towers are particularly stunning, so check them out. Today we wanted an adventure, we had checked the internet on our superfast wifi connection and planned to go to Melaka - a pretty Portuguese colonnial town about a two hour bus ride. However, when we got to the main bus terminal (and checked with every company) it was clear that the Melaka bus went from an out of town bus station. Sense of adventure undinted we decided to look at the board of departures and chose Genting Highlands, there was a cable car involved so fingers crossed it was going to be cool up there and hopefully very scenic...an hour and a half later we were driving along the highway through the rainforest, monkeys ran along the edge of the road.... very exciting and only four pounds each for the tickets! Next the cable car - the world's fastest and south east asia's longest. The rainforest stretched out below us, we could hear the cries of monkeys, the chirp of insects and felt the cool breeze off the mountain. We arrived 10 minutes later and over 5000 feet higher at Genting the tackiest, casino and theme park complex ever seen - destroying the peace, tranquility and beauty of the tropical rainforest. We enquired about mountain and nature treks but were told that we could only reach the treks via a private hotel guided tour costing £80 per person and starting at 6am. We got the first cable car back the view downwards was breathtaking and we were lucky enough to catch some photos of a family of monkeys playing and feeding at the bus station. See latest album. Ah well.. the cable car ride itself was worth the price of the tickets and we were back in KL for lunch by 13:30.
Lunch today was white rice (nasi putih), cabbage, cauliflower and fried tofu in a southern indian spiced curry, together with a large bottle of mineral water we were charged 9.80RM in total (£1.99). Delicious! I was pleased with the standard of the cloth he wiped my dish with. Two hour walking tour around Little India (Brickfields) near our hotel tomorrow.
