Right...it's been a while since I last wrote on here!
I've settled in nicely at the RSPCA, Birmingham and have been here just over a month now (time is flying). It started warming up but then snowed a small amount yesturday! Brrrrr. My shifts have changed around a little. I've gone from being just Neuter nurse to generals and some evening shifts...a little variation. I've gotten to know some of the staff a little better...which is fantastic! I went with one work collegue to a christian seminar on in Birmingham and with another to the movies...3D Alice in Wonderland...a must see! Very cool! So, I feel a little more at home and in a bit of a routine. It's a great place to work!
I've started getting a little braver and more accustomed to the bus services around here. I managed to find my way out to Stratford last saturday...the 'Shakespeare Country'. Unfortunately by the time I finally found my way out there, I only managed to check out Shakespeares house and that was it. I will be going back, no doubt about it! As well as the rich poetic history, there is a canal, Avon, there. Definately worth a second trip. A cute (but bustling with tousism) town...quite refreshing after the city life.
Bournville...another very cute and unique town! My first encounter with Bournville was when Pastor Steve and Vivianne invited me for lunch and gave me a tour. Amazing history...it isn't just the location of the Cadbury Factory, but, it's also got huge history! In 1979 the Quaker brothers moved the family business to the factory from the city and constructed a model village for the workers. They took thousands who were not so well off and gave them jobs, education, medical facilities etc. Amazing story and amazing place! Everything is now in a trust and is protected. It's such a unique little town. I love it! I went back to have a proper look around last sunday! And man...you could honestly smell chocolate wafting across on the breeze! Yum. Rich in history and in chocolate!
I'm off to Taunton, Somerset this weekend (Easter) to visit dad's cousin, Rupert. Apparently the Devon area is really nice, so, I'm looking forward to a change in scene.
Hope everyone has a fantastic easter. Don't forget Jesus...the reason for the season and the huge significance of what he did for us, the sacrifice he made in order for us to receive forgiveness and the key to his devine kingdom, no strings attached, just out of his extreme love for us. He made it possible! Yay! Happy Easter! Enjoy!
