We had an interesting lecture in the morning from a teacher who has lots of experience in China. He gave us some useful tips and it sounds like nothing is going to be particularly straightforward!
Later in the day we had Contract signing which involved going through all of the clauses and then handing in three signed copies.A lot of the clauses referred to the items we should be furnished with in our apartments, and how much they should pay us.It will be interesting to see how many of these clauses will be followed and how many will need to be chased up.They gave us a spare copy to take with us to our schools "for reference" so I'm imagining quite a few!
A group of us went back to Tiananmen Square to see it in the daytime instead. The most interesting thing was the huge amount of security. Our bags had to go through airport style scanners for us to enter the square. There were soldiers marching around the entire time.Police cars and vans were also patrolling. And there were CCTV cameras on every lamppost. We were all quite amused when we saw a man vault over the fence from the road into the square and none of the security measures in place seemed to acknowledge this.
