Hey dudes
So, I arrived in Brisbane on Wednesday evening with the lads, Elliot, Alex and Naz and I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 6.30am, so haven't had long here, and I'm gutted to be leaving without the dream team but Sunday's bus was full so have no choice. Naz is staying on to work for a few weeks, Elliot and Alex will meet me in Noosa on Sunday, but it's been sad saying goodbye…. Plus I'm really dreading carrying my bag in the morning, Naz- bless him has been taking mine about and I've been pulling his backpack on wheels about as its sooo much eaiser.
So, Brisbane, well firstly I must say the locals here are absolutely fantastic, sooo lovely. Wednesday night the lads went out and I got acquainted with our Canadian room mates, before we knew it we were comparing nipple sizes. Oh funny story, don't think I ever told you but the three guys I met in Adelaide played this game, where if they shouted 'what do you love', you had to shout 'the cock', no matter where you were, you had to shout it ! ok sounds immature but was a lot of fun. Anyway I arrived in Brisbane at our hostel and had on a 'I love Byron bay' t-shirt and the guy behind reception could only see' I love', so he said to me 'what do you love…' and I went all quiet thinking oh my god he knows the game, I was just about to shout 'the cock' when I realized he couldn't possibly know the game but when I told him and the rest of the reception the story they found it quite funny!!!
So the dorms, quite frankly our room was like a hospital ward and this morning I found a cockroach in my bed! Yes that's right, in my bed! Gross!! Nevertheless we were in the same dorm and it's been a giggle!! We had a power nap together earlier, and last night wished each other a goodnight before falling asleep, I love these dudes!!
So Thursday, I had a day to myself, I did a walking tour of the city. It took me seven hours but I loved it!! I went up the clock tower, had lunch in Queen's park, saw the old windmill, the oldest surviving building in Brisbane and ended up in Roma street Park land - the world's largest sub-tropical garden (full of really big spiders that freaked me out!!) In the evening, Alex, Elliot and I went to the cinema to see 'the kite runner' which was very sad. I sat there sobbing in between them! Really good film though, sad but good. But read the book before you see the film!!
Today, Naz and I have played golf! We took 4.5 hours to complete the 18 hole course but we had sooo much fun!! We got an electronic golf buggy and it was hilarious!! It took us 35 minutes to do one hole! That was our worst one but some I did in 5 shots which I thought was quite impressive!! We improved no end after lunch (we took 3 hours to do the first 9 holes) and just 1.5 hours to do the last 9. I was prancing about with no shoes on and got stung by some unknown insect, I panicked for the first half an hour that I would drop dead but the pain eventually eased up and I was fine! Oh yeah, after we finished we decided to cruise around in the buggy as it was soo much fun and we drove past a wedding ceremony being held at the golf course, it was so emabariisng, but we laughed so much!! A random guy cycled past us whilst we were at the bus stop and showed us a blue tongue lizard (check out photo!)
Tonight is my last night in Brisbane, the guys insisted on me having a couple (so I lasted five full days, nearly six without booze) not a bad attempt! They've gone out clubbing but I've called it a night as Ihave to be up at 5.30am. Nice!! So there you have it, a lot of people have referred to Brisbane as being a dump with stuck up locals, but the locals have been nothing but friendly to me (when lost on my walking tour) and I happen to like this city very much.Looking forward to chilling in Noosa though, woo hoo!
Until next time, take care of yourself and each other xxxxxxx
