We were in Transit for most of today via Ahmedabad.
We left Ranakpur and took a three hour Jeep ride back to Udaipur where we were to catch a bus for six hours to Ahmedabad. When we arrived at the bus station the heavens opened and I got slightly wet whilst trying to get some food. Me and Jess were informed that the bus had seats and beds above and that we would be in a bed. When the bus pulled up it wasn't the cleanest, we got on and I saw the beds to the left - they looked quite spacious so it didn't seem too bad...until we realised we were on the right which was basically a bunk smaller than a single bed for both of us! We got up there and shut the sliding cage door, it was rather cramped to say the least! I had a slight tantrum - the thought of being on there so long was too much for me. But as I looked out the window I calmed down, told myself to get off my high horse and that this is what I came for - to experience the Indian way of life! If I wanted a luxurious holiday I wouldn't be backpacking. One thing is for sure though - I will never complain about my twenty minute tube journey to work anymore, no matter how packed it gets! I'll just think of all the people on them buses!
When we arrived at Ahmedabad we then had to take a nine hour sleeper train to Mumbai - I had been worrying about this but in fact it felt like heaven compared to the bus! Comfortable, clean and air conditioned I slept until we arrived.
