Hi Everyone,
Things have been very difficult concerning connecting to the internet and uploading files. We have to pickup random wireless connections here and often they are unavailable or secured. We uploaded lots of photos recently after a 1 hour walk to an interent cafe, wow that was a hot and sweaty walk!
Anyways, As Sheenah wrote in the June 12th blog, we did lots yesterday. Shopping and looking around in Lahaina was great! We found some great stores and some very nice small shops as well. There are way too many over prices art galeries here though which was kind of strange. Banyan Tree park was amazing and I recommend you all google 'Banyan Tree' if you are not 100% certain what one is. Its an amazing kind of tree. After a great lunch we booked a Luau and Submarine ride for Saturday so there is lots more to come.
We headed up to Honolua Bay near the northmost part of the West Island. During the short hike from the road to the Bay we came by this incredible forest area. The trees there were massive, bonzai-like trees with green vines covereing most of them as well as rope-like vines hanging from the branches. There were even cacti growing up in the trees, strangest thing. We took a walk through the area and made a video of it but I don't know if we will be able to upload it. Sitting in the Bay was very relaxing and afterwards we continued north around the west volcano. We stopped at the Olivine Pools which Sheenah explained and we have some photos of. From there we continued around and came back to the condo.
Today, the 13th, we went for a snorkelling tour with Paragon Charters. The winds were high and it was aboard a sailboat. This thing was flying over the waves and soaking everyone who sat anywhere on the boat. The only dry place was in the cabin. It was a very fun ride as we seldom never get to go sailing. Snorkelling was fun but the waters were not amazingly clear and though the fish were very colorful, they weren't very numerous. It's still very nice to see that other kind of world though and after I got used to the idea of breathing with my face in the water, I really enjoyed it.
Now we just got back and I'm on the net while Sheenah is taking a nap. We are hoping to go out tonight but we will have to get back early so Denn can use her car. She works midnight shifts.
Tomorrow we are driving to Hana, a village on the East most point of Maui. It is a minimum 3 hour drive and we are going to be camping there the night. There are some amazing waterfalls and even bamboo forests along the way so stay tuned. We will return on Friday and with any luck, be able to update the blog then. I apologize for the sometimes slow updates but it has been difficult to find fast and/or reliable connections. Aloha!
