we had another amazing day, this morning we took an hour cruise out along the coast of Nice. It was beautiful, plus we got to see many homes of the rich and famous. Scott was most excited about Sean Connery's home. We also got to see the cruise ship used in Speed 2 if that excites anyone. Kent we believe we saw the building where you once worked, we took a lot of pics but at this time I can not upload, we will try in Florence. The building was pink and green does that sound correct?
This afternoon we traveled to Monaco to see the famous Monte Carlo casino. We took the train from Nice to Monaco by ourselves and had a hell of a time doing so. We had no idea how to read the reader boards at the station. We are so glad that we have a tour guide to get us from place to place. Monte Carlo was pretty, we walked up to the casino but did not go in. for some reason we could not justify paying 10 euros each to walk in a casino .....we did however spend sometime in the front drive checking out the amazing cars. We saw a Bugatti as it pulled out the drive, this excited Scott greatly. All in all we decided that Monte Carlo was nothing more than Vegas on the water. Full of a bunch of rich folk trying to show off, we were not so impressed. However I doubt we would have turned down an invite aboard any of the yachts docked in the bay. WOW!
Last night we explored the town, we had an amazing dinner at a restaurant in old town. I had my first pizza (I decided we were close enough to Italy) and Scott had homemade gnocchi with carbonara sauce. We were unfamiliar with the sauce but it is a regional dish where they serve it table side with a raw egg on top. You mix it with the pasta and it is amazing. after dinner we tried out a few live music bars, sadly both were not very good and both american music. tonight we are going to try and locate a jazz bar in old town.
tomorrow we are off to Cinque terre, which will be our first stop in Italy. On the train in the morning we will have to work on our Italian. Scott has done great in france and actually learned more than the basic four words. I on the other hand have spent the last week repeating whatever someone says to me first. a few times this has been embarrassing.
We purchased some motion sickness meds for tomorrows train ride. I am praying they will help me to not feel so sick on the train. For some reason when we are on the fast trains from city to city I am having huge issues when sitting backwards. Yuck. Hopefully we will be assigned forward seats. Mom, I blame this issue completely on you!
love to all! xooxxoxox
