Barcelona 4/5-4/9
As of tomorrow, we will have been in Europe for a month! Most of this time we have stayed in Spain (Madrid, Seville, Ronda, Barcelona…). I think that the life style here is better than in the U.S. For example, I liked that we ate dinner at 10:00pm every night and stayed up late.Another reason that I like Spain is that they eat Tapas; smaller portions of delicious foods. There were many reasons why I liked Spain but I think I liked that the most.
The first night that we arrived, we went downtown and looked for a nice restaurant. We walked around for a while and found a little Mexican restaurant. We were homesick for some Mexican food & Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit wassssssss deeeeeeeelicious!
Our second day in Barcelona, we went and saw the Maritime museum. It was a museum presenting the history of sailing and boats. Inside of the museum they had examples of full sized boats and told you the harsh history of the sailors life. The boats inside were beautifully decorated and skillfully designed. We also learned about how they got boats out of the building. They would put the boat on a large track and slide it down into the water. There were even pictures describing how boats have developed so much over time. On the way home we saw a street performer. He had a squeaky toy in his mouth and he was talking while he made a squeaking noise. He didn't just do that he also made a few funny gestures at people.
The next day we went to the most elaborate cathedral in Spain. The Sagrada Familia will be completed in 2022. Gaudi, a famous artist from Spain, created it. He died in 1926 when a tram hit him, so he never got to see it completed. They have been building it for 130 years and they still have 14 years to go! We also went to another famous place by Gaudi, except this one was a park. Park Guell is designed with multi-colored tiles and stone to make the park into a masterpiece.
Later we went to the Olympic stadium. We went inside bought tickets and rushed over to begin our tour. It was remarkable and a lot of fun! They showed the history of the 1992 Olympics, the history of sports and had interactive games to give examples of how fast or strong you would have to be to get into the Olympics. It was a blast!
Barcelona was a very touristy town but a very cultural one too. Stay with us on our journey!
