Friday 29th June
Touched down in Singapore at 6.10pm. Was a rough & bumpy flight a lot of the way. Was driven by private vehicle to Furama Hotel in Chinatown. A large, modern hotel with gym, bar, restaurant & lovely outdoor pool.
At 10pm had a bite to eat & a Singapore Sling in the Waterfall Lounge. There was a man playing the piano & a woman singing - it was very relaxing.
Was in bed at 11pm but wide awake again at 3am!
Saturday 30th
Lay awake for about 3 hours & drifted off again only to wake with a start at 9am.
After a late brekky we did a spot of shopping in the little shops in hotel foyer. Then we spent a couple of hours lounging around the pool & having a dip to cool off. Black clouds gathered & thunder broke thru the humid air before the rain came in heavy showers. Lunch today was in the Indonesian restaurant in the hotel & then we packed our bags, booked out & waited in the bar (& had a drink) for our private vehicle transfer to the airport.
Mum has hurt her back & was in pain so the walking was slow getting to the departure lounge.
Only had an hour & a bit to wait before we boarded.
Sunday 1st July
The 6 1/2 hour flight was also bumpy, managed to get a couple of hours sleep but didn't feel rested when we landed in Brisbane at 6.20am. However getting thru customs & immigration was fairly smooth & quick - we were on the train platform at 7 am!
After saying our goodbyes we went our separate ways - Mum & Moray took train down to Helensvale & I took train to domestic airport to catch my next flight to Sydney.
Left at 11.35 am & arrived in Sydney at 1pm where I had to walk down to baggage claim, collect my bag, check in with Qantas then walk all the way back to gate again! I'm over security checks & lugging these heavy bags around!!
Again waited for 2 1/2 hours for flight to Wagga.
Slept most of the way home on both flights but still exhausted when I reached Wagga. M met me at the airport with a beautiful bunch of white roses - a lovely touch!
So good to be finally home - arriving at 6pm - a long & tiring day!
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, we packed so much in over the 3 weeks. We had good weather for most of the time, enjoyed wonderful food & some funny moments! All in all was a wonderful trip.
I was happy for Mum in that she got to see her family & birth city once again and hopefully we helped create a new set of memories for her.
