Saturday 16th June
Woke refreshed & ready for a big day in the city of love. Looking forward to a fresh croissant & coffee!
And found just that at a little restaurant near the hotel - delicious!!
(funny story here - will tell later!)
Started our day with a 10min walk to Notre Dame Cathedral & Criptique museum. Beautiful cathedral with lots of huge stain glass windows & carved woodwork - just beautiful!
The Criptique was interesting as it showed some of the original foundations of the city in 15th & 16th century. Steps, cellars, wells, walls & even one of the earliest form of central heating!
At the bus stop there were some little shops so we parted with some Euro here before getting bus around the city.
(& Yes I did get a bag!! ).
Drove up the Champs Elyses to Arc De Triomphe where we got off for some lunch. Had a little salad with wine then shared some macaroons & a pastry & the yummiest hot chocolate. It rained on & off this morning & got heavy at times but wasn't cold.
Back on bus & around the city to Eiffel Tower - magnificent!!!!!! Such an imposing wonder.
After MANY photos, we boarded a long cruise boat & cruised on down the Seine & around the island that Notre Dame Cathedral sits on.
Moray & I took the underground Metro down to Montparnasse Tower while Mum stayed at hotel for a rest.
The Tower is 59 floors high & has revolving viewing on 56th for 360 degree view of Paris- fabulous!
On our return we met Mum & went for a French dinner. A wonderful way to round off a wonderful day in a most wonderful city!
Had our escargots (snails), beef burgundy & lemon tart with a lovely bottle of Chablis. (yummo!)
Sunday 17th
Sadly we leave this beautiful city this morning at 9.13 exactly.
Brekky on the train - croissant, bread & jam, yoghurt, juice & tea.
