Left Franschoek and the wine district this morning, but not before one last wine tasting. However, this estate (Fairview) also featured cheeses. Wine was OK; cheese was very good. As we headed west we passed through some fairly extensive wheat fields. In some instances, wheat fields are adjacent to vineyards. The area of the West Cape Province north of Cape Town is a major wheat producer in South Africa.
At Yzerfontein we hit the Atlantic Ocean. Vacation homes, some quite large, are ever-present here. It is only about 90 minutes north of Cape Town. The Atlantic surf is an attraction. North of the town lies the West Coast National Park. We spent some time driving through it and spotted Eland, Ostriches and several other species but nothing like our sitings elsewhere.
We got to our hotel in Langebaan quite early, which is a good thing. After yesterday's wine tasting day, we need the rest.
