Again up at 5:00am to pack the vehicle. Began game searching at 5:30. Finally saw a lion and 10 Kudu, which is the symbol of Kruger National Park. Left the Park at about noon and began driving south. The viewing in the Park was not bad. We saw plenty of impala, zebra, elephants and giraffes as well as plenty of other animals. Only saw one lion and no leopard, cheetah and rhino. However, we were only in the park two days. Also, the poaching of rhino from Mozambique has caused the Park to sequester many rhino in a secret location. Leopard and cheetah are hard to fine. Lastly, the dry weather has not been good for the animals. The tempurature reached 40C today. All in all, I would say our wildlife viewing was satisfactory. However, if ones primary objective of a trip to Africa is wildlife viewing, I think Kenya and Tanzania are better.
After leaving the Park we began moving south, Passed a private wildlfe reserve "Kapamu" which has the big five inside and takes up 15,000 hectares. Along our way we passed through about a 40 km. long suburban black community. Our driver was not certain what was the employment mainstay of the local popularion. Not a lot of agriculture and no real obvious industry; nevertheless, the housing is quite good and some houses are the equivalent of north america.
Continued on to Graskop and Pigrims' Rest, over at least 4 mountain ranges. We get to sleep in tomorrow before a scenic drive in the area.
Just a note concerning the photos --- the wildlife ones from Kruger National Park are in the Kruger N.P. The other photos from today are in the pretoria and North section.
