Vickys Godmother has friends in Picton so we made our way up to experience a bit of Picton and do some sea kayaking, anyone that's seen me kayak before knows that i hate being cold and wet at the same time and am prone to a little wingeing! Well i thought in the beautiful sunshine in New Zealand this would be different, oh no. After agreeing to do it and getting everything booked up the heavens opened and it poured down, and it poured some more. So there went my leisurely paddle out the window. I hated it, and i nearly made Vicky and Danni hate me cause i complained so much, i was very cold and very wet!! Not a happy bunny. I think the tour was supposed to last 3 hours but i only managed about half of that before giving in.
We then went and found a campsite in town having been assured by our kayak leader that Picton on a thusday night was the place to be, so we got ourselves showered and ready and cracked open the vodka before heading into town. had a look round, found the irish bar and the scots bar but decided to get some food 1st - it was delicious, i thought backpacking meant eating pasta and bread. On to this amazing night out.... well the irish bar closed at 9pm!!! And the scots bar only had about 10 people in - where was everybody. We still enjoyed our night and things got funnier when we met a group of British agriculturists, one being Welsh - our british isles we're complete. and he was a sheep shearer! brilliant! So that was Picton.
