My Travel Story begins - Left LHR for Christchurch on Sat 27th Jan and finally arrived in CHC at midday Monday. Thanks to the wonderful Carol Barnes had a very pleasent and relaxed flight over in Club with my own little bed - Carol you're a star. I also got donated a free bottle of Champagne and pijamas, i obviously had my best skint traveller look down to a T already. After a couple of glasses of sparkly and some duty free buying i nodded off into my little world. Having to change in LA wasn't so great, they are the most unhelpful irritating people in the world. Having been given my sparkly and bought a bottle of Vodka the promptly tried to confiscate it because of the stupid liquid rules on board! AArgh! After a bit of running around i bought a new bag and checked the alcohol in never expecting to see it again.
To my shock when i arrived in Aukland it was stilll in tack and the Kiwis are a lot more layed back about these things and let me carry it on to my next flight to CHC, no worries!! They also gave me an earlier flight so i din't have to wait in the Airport for 4 hours. I lik NZ already.
Finally arrived at my hostel in CHC where i'd arranged to meet up with Danni and Vicky the next morning. Had a nap then went straight for a beer only to meet a guy from Holmer Green, you travel to the otherside of the world and meet your neighbours. How odd.
Had a chill out time the next morning waiting for Danni and watching giant Chess in the centre square and spent most of the day sleeping. When Danni and Vicky arrived we decided to do a road trip around the south Island in a spaceship!!! This is where the fun began.....
We picked up our bright orange Spaceship nicknamed K9 (were they trying to tell us something?). Packed it up with all our worldly belongings and got to know our new home for the next 11 days.
Here comes the joke - There was an English and Irish and a Scots girl doing a road tour of NZ in K9.....any punchlines please add to my message board, i'll send a prize home for the funniest!
Or you can go with 3 in a very small bed and the little one didn't get to say anything cause we suffocated her, sorry Danni!
So the trip began with us heading up to the natural hot spas in Hamner springs, we paid $12 for the pleasure of sitting in a very commercial warm swimming pool that stank of sulphar, needless to say we didn't stay long and made our way out of the 1st of many small towns we nearly missed.Stage 2 of our road trip, we drove on to the supposedly happening town of Kaikora - they lied, nothing happens. we spent one night there and found one bar and left early the next morning to head for Picton.
