Had a great sleep in. We have block out blinds on the outside of our windows which stopped any sun coming in and reduced, by some, the noise of musicians. Took the hydrofoil to Como. It takes only 45 mins as opposed to the bus - 2 hours and the slow ferry - about 2 hours too. The hydrofoil is expensive at 40€ each way but sure beats a water taxi at 350€ each way! Como was nice, very old, some beautiful buildings and fountains. The setting is so lovely with the mountains in the background and, of course, the beautiful lake. Had lunch there and then rested on the waterfront enjoying the magical view. Celeste played on the adjoining playground. Another great hydrofoil ride back to Bellagio. Ice-cream from the little store in the old town and more cheese (selected by Alex) from the little deli. A walk after that to try and find a beach/shore that the girls could swim at. No luck - just high ledges. Went back to our hotel where the girls could swim in the hotel pool (well Celeste did - too cold for Alex). Dinner at our hotel. What a mistake! All of the diners that were there were obviously part of a fixed meal plan as they had green cards with their names on it and they ate at the same table every night. Most of them also looked as if they were approx 75 years old and they were mainly English. There must have been a special on in the home country! The waiters looked excited just to have diners that were ordering a la carte. It would have been ok except the meal was very bland and I found some wire in my meal. Not good. Needless to say, we did not order any dessert. Went instead up the road to a nice hotel and had strawberries and cream, creme brûlée, pannacotta, etc. Delicious and really nice overlooking the case. It really is a pretty place. The weather apparently does not get over 30 or under 6. No musicians tonight, which was good as we need to be moving on tomorrow.
