Day 5
Today was one of the hardest so far. After Sang cooked us egg on toast for breakfast, we started our second trek which was 4 hours long!! The first 2 hours was all up hill and was very very hard and hot. Honestley, we felt like we could do anything after this trek! Sang had a machete and made us some chopsticks and a 'whiskey cup' out of bamboo. He also made Kim a pipe out of bamboo. He's such a nice person and made sure everyone was feeling OK and stopped when we needed a rest.
When the trek was over we arrived at the elephant camp for some dinner. It was by a in place. river and the elephants were washing themselves in it and playing about. They are so cute and clever! When we'd eaten we got on the elephants for a 1 hour trek to the next hilltribe. We had one of the biggest elephants and everybody but us had a rope to keep you in place. Scarlett had bought some bananas and when our elephant stepped down, they fell into the river and the elephant scoped them up and ate them! She was pretty scared because you feel quite high up and she's scared of heights.
After pictures with the elephant, we continued the trek which was only 15 minutes. This hilltribe wasn't as rural, there was a school down the road and a little shop where you could buy drinks and crisps. We had a wash in the river which was much better as it was deep enough to swim in unlike the last one and Scarlett could wear her bikini where as in the last one she had to voer up in the river. There was a bridge above it and some crazy guy was sat on it and lifted up his t-shirt and he was wearing a red bra! he started throwing cabbage in the river and all of sudden loads of fish came up to eat it!
Later on, Stu and Ben went for a walk to take some pictures, but only made it about a 100 yards before being waved over by locals to drink hilltribe whiskey! It was very strong and he had about 6 shots. The sleeping situation was the same as the last tribe except there were four to a room. We had a seating area outside the bedrooms and there was the biggest spider EVER in a web at the top. It was horrible and they wouldn't move it as it was 'goodluck' as it eats the mozzys...
Whilst Sang cooked, he taught us how to make spring rolls which was quite fun. After tea we made another camp fire and had a chat and some people played cards.
