Today was d-day. As in death Road day. Exciting times. We got up relatively early and were taken in a bus to the start of the death road 4800m high. We had to put on some very exciting gear and looked totally cool, dirt bike helmets and everything. We also had Breakie on the way. The first part of the death road was the not so dangerous new part. It was pretty cold though. It was tarmaced and smooth but we did go super fast as it was so down hill. The bikes were really good. Eventually we got to the old death road where lots of people used to die. Our guide informed us that no one had died on a bike since last February which was nice to know. This track was gravelly and totally different to the previous one, I started of relatively slowly as the corners whee tight and the drop was straight down. It was mental. As we got the hang I started going a little faster. On a few bits I was quite scared for my life as the tracks were so thin, to think cars used to pass each other on this road was mental. We had a lot of stops on the way down, mainly for photos and to strip off as it got progressively warmer. We finished up at 1800m in a little town. However on the way Chris fell off over the handle bars and Hirt his wrist. But in the end we both survived the death road and have the Tshirts to prove it. Got to the lunch stop where it was boiling and had down acrimony food and a swim and then headed back up the new death road for 3 hours back to la Paz. It was so fun!! The scenery in Bolivia is amazing, crazy mountains and jungle. When we got back we went for food at a Moroccan place which was delish and then had a few drinks in the bar. We decided we would go to the hospital in the morning for shorts wrist as t was quite swollen. We finally sad goodbye to Harmka for the last time as she was heading to chile and also the Swedish house mafia had appeared in the hostel which was nice.
