Sam quitely leaves the house at 4h00 giving me another 30 minutes to snooze before I have to get up myself. As our B&B Brook's house is about 3.5 kilometres from the Dolphin Encounter, our host Judy is getting up at the same time to give me a ride which is much appreciated of course ;-).
5h15 and i am ready to put on the tight wetsuit once more and watch another safety video: slight swell of the sea today so beware of seasickness is the morning message.
Tough luck as half of the boat is holding on to a colourful bucket after about three swims with the dolphins. This does not ruin the amazing experience though. Swimming with about 250 dolphins - which today seem to be in a very playful mood and keep on circuling and jumping over the dozen of swimmers - is undescribable.
9h00 and it is time to jump on the Stray bus once again, this time heading to Picton where most people will cross to North Island. We get to Picton around 12h30 and check into one of the nicest backpackers so far, Villa Backpackers. Together with Miranda who I meet on the bus to Picton, we make a walk and check the activities for the afternoon. We go for a quick beer on an old boat before deciding on a mini cruise through Marlborough Sounds.
The cruise is on quite a small boat, but we do get a little basket with a bottle of wine and some salmon snacks while we enjoy the stunning Charlotte Track.
