So the countdown has now officially begun for my trip to Canada. There is just over 2 weeks before i leave for Heathrow Airport, so i felt that now was the ideal time for my first blog. For those of you who don't know about my plans, i will be moving to Calgary in Alberta for the year, living with my friend Jen and one of her friends. We are lucky enough to have a house sorted for us in South West Calgary, and that is about all i know of the area.
Even though this is not the first time i will be leaving England for an extended period of time, i am finding it harder to leave second time around. I think this is mainly because i will be so much further away from home, for longer, and because i know how difficult it was to leave the first time. Having said all that, i am ridiculously excited for this year, i know i am going to have an amazing time. I've learnt from my last trip,so i am not going to leave canada with any regrets and i will make the most out of every opportunity that comes my way. This will also be my first Christmas away from my family, which will be strange, but i am really grateful to Jen's family who i will be staying with once i arrive, and over Christmas.
For some reason i havn't got any serious worries about this year, and the ones i do have aren't serious and comprise of: how i am going to survive sub zero temperatures, how many times i am going to end up saying eh in a sentence, and how i will make a fur trucker hat look attractive.
I am hoping to do plenty of travelling this year (i'm definitely going to have to travel further distances than i did in Europe) and i am eager to learn to Snowboard. Even with my lack of sporting abilities i'm hoping Jen has the patience to teach me!
So that's about it for my pre-arrival blog, i've got two more weeks left in my job, there's plenty of packing to do... and the next time you hear from me i will be settling into my new life in Canada! Keep in touch everyone!
