It started raining yeaterday - alot and today the heavens have been open all day! but its still warm so its ok.
Jen was in for an hour again and Kates consultant is away all week too so we decided to go to main campus to pay our accommodation. Its in St Augustine just a 20p maxi ride away. After our long trip to get there (10 minutes + 30 minutes wandering the campus, we had worked up an appetite.
Andrew tried a roti (wrap containing chick pea type curry paste and chicken - he could have had goat or liver and gissard - Im not sure why he chose chicken?) from a shop Jen said I wouldnt have liked. The man threw his empty cigarette packet at them as a welcome as they walked in. It was made unseen and handed to him through a cross shaped hole in a metal securtiy sheild. At only a pound it was a bargin! Kate and I had a KFC.
We stopped off at a bar (shack) on the way to the supermarket and were ushered into a dark back room to watch the footie - Brazil vs Croatia - be scary but ok in the end.
At the supermarket we stocked up on the important items, a crate of Carib beer (v nice like corona and 50p a bottle) and a litre and half of golden rum for 5 quid to have with fruit punch. It all helps to make the long dark evenings go a little faster!
Thursday is a holiday and we need to find somewhere safe to watch the match. Another couple of Sheffield students are arriving Wednesday night so we are pushing the boat out for them and ordering in pizza - I'll let you know how that goes.
