From Journal: 10-19 (friday)
Im laying in bed right now in our hotel in Venice at about 9pm and Im exhausted. I last wrote when we were on a train to Venice. Once off the train, we got on a bus and rode in a circle for about a 1/2 hour until finally figuring out where to get off to get to our hotel. The reception lady was really rude, but we got our room, stashed our stuff and headed to the city. Once in Venice we found a place to grab lunch since we were starving, and by the time we got done it was pouring outside. The rain ruined the day. We tried walking around a little bit, but it was just soo wet and cold and neither of us had an umbrella which didn't help the situation. We headed back to our hotel with out any food for dinner and just went to bed really early.
We woke up this morning to lots of sunshine, so needless to say our sprits were a lot higher. We left the hotel around 9am and spent the whole day in Venice. We got breakfast at a bakery where the croissants were almost as good as the ones in Paris lol. We decided to let our feet take us wherever and we walked around aimlessly for an hour or so before stumbiling upon the academia san marco. We took a boat along the river and got dropped off at the piazza san marco. The Piazza was beautiful! Although we didnt go into the museums we did enjoy the outside scenery just as much. The Piazza was a huge square with a huge muslim church at one end and just columns containing shopping all the way around. There was a huge clock tower near the church that ran its bells every half hour. The shopping was expensive but I managed to find some christmas presents for some people.
We walked around the island for a while and ended up stumbiling onto a glass blowing factory. We snuck onto a spanish tour (which was good for me since madeleine speaks spanish) and watched a glass blower make a flower vase. It was so cool. Venice is known for its murano glass, so it was really cool watching this man make it right in front of me in about 10 mins. After the glass blowing demonstration we walked around in a random garden and along the water for a while just enjoying the scenery and our last day in Italy. We eventually got our last Italian meal (very sad) and our last gelato (even sadder) and after watching a gorgeous sunset over the river, left the beautiful island of Venice.
I am currently in the hotel room all packed and ready to go back to London. While Italy was gorgeous, and I would probably want to take my honeymoon here because it is so beautiful, I am very happy to be going back to London. Everytime I leave London and come back to it I appreciate it so much more. Although, I could do without the bland food.lol. I do miss that from all the other European countries lol. I am looking forward to going back to London. Vacation was awesome, and Italy was great. I am glad I went.
Until I write again,
Love always,
Sarah xoxo
