From my journal: Oct 18 (thursday)

I am currently on a tain to Venice with Madeleine. We left Florence at about 10:30am and should arrive in Venice around 1:30pm or so. I am excited, but not as much as I was about Roma. Venice seems cool and sureal, but nothing incrediably spectacular.

Yesterday was fun. We woke up kinda late and went shopping in this huge flea market type of place down a main street near our hostel. I ended up buying some little gifts for some friends and some for myself lol. Most of the day was spent shopping and wandering the streets of florence and just kinda letting our feet take us wherever. We eventually went back to our hostel where everyone took a nap. I decided to go to a park and sit outside since it was such a nice day and nap there. I didnt want to spend my time in florence in the hostel room. The group called me later and we all met up and walked to Piti Palace where we were going to try and watch the sun set from the gardens in the palace, but it was closing in a half hour and we were too cheap to spend almost 10 euros for that little time.

We decided to get dinner at a local pizzaria (pizza in italy is amazing by the way!lol) and afterwards walked around the town and stumbled upon a carousel in the middle of a square. Us, being the 5-year olds that we are decided to ride it once around and be incredibly childish for the 2 min ride lol. After the carousel we found some gelto (amazing!) and headed back to the hostel where we arrived to a huge party and sing-along-session going on lol. I decided to join the festivities and ended up going out with a bunch of american girls from Udel and the Canadian boys from our room. They were all fairly drunk aside from me and Titus (his real name is derek) so we got some gelto and ended up finding a park and swing-set and just talked all night. I more or less told my life story, but it was nice being able to talk and vent to someone.

After our talk we went back to the hostel and i packed my stuff for the next day. So here I am sitting on the train to Venice. Shouldn't be too much longer. Hopefully it will be fun.
