From Journal: Oct 16th (Wednesday)
We took a train from Rome to Florence that lasted about 2 hours. We got off the train and after about 15 mintues of wondering around amilessly we finally our hostel. It's much nicer than the other one, although by the looks of it I am a little unsure of how the shower works. We dropped off our stuff and decided to get lost in the city.
The city is small and quant but the people are kinda rude. We ended up wandering right into the academia. We stood in line for about an half hour and finally got inside to see David. David is the only real thing to see in the museum, but it is awesome. He's huge and although proportioned inncorrectly, magnificantly similar to the Trevi fountian in the sense that it has this powerful masculine yet beauty to it.
After seeing David we walked around until we found ourselves in the Piazza San Marco where while relaxing on some steps we ran into our temple friend Jared! We ended up all getting gelato and then Jared showed us the way to the Dumo church. It is so colorful it almost doesnt seem like a church. We then walked to the Ponte Vecchio which is the only bridge hitler didnt bomb during WWII. He apparently loved it too much. So...he loved a bridge too much to bomb it, but didnt care about murdering countless numbers of jews? slightly twisted.
That night we went to a resturant with a very americanized version of italian food. We walked around at night and said goodbye to Jared and eventually went back to our hostel where we met some nice boys from Canada who were sharing our room with us.
