Arrived in LC, China on Tuesday and I met with couple missionary leaders today and we studied John 6: 25-59 - Jesus is the bread of life.
The meeting took place at a sisters apartment, in their bedroom, it's safer that way with curtains shut. There were 10 brothers and sisters in the room. They all walked here, near or far in 100+ degree weather here.
Brother Tian lead a prayer, everyone was just so passionate about Jesus and so eager to learn the Word. The oldest sister is 80 years old, she is the one of the few people who survived the cultural revolution in the 60s in the area. We started with worship. We sang praise and worship songs from hymn books for about 45 minutes. No keyboard, nor guitar, nor drums, but I could tell that all the brothers and sisters in the meeting place were praising God with all their hearts!
I first shared how American Church family has been praying for them. One of an older sister was totally in tears. She just couldn't thank God enough, and totally touched by God's faithfulness. She said God never forgets his people, how amazing is God's plan that two groups of Christians who never met, an ocean apart but were tied by God's love!
Then I lead the bible study as a group discussion, just like how we studied book of John in sunday school at CBC. This is the first time they ever used this approach, learning through discussion. Usually they just listen to one of the missionaries speak and teach. They really liked the study method. It's very tough here for these brothers and sisters to meet. So hot and no airconditioning. But they have such strong faith, even the 80 years olds sisters here.
I'm deeply touched by their faith and thank God that by his amazing grace he has brought me here to learn and serve. Also, this group is considered underground group, so they are also facing lots of persecution. Please continue praying for their safety!
By the way, my grandparents and my uncle will get baptized the coming Monday by pastor from a nearby city. The pastor will travel to here on Monday.
