The Irish have a couple of quirky habits:
They are insistant that you must drink out of the correct cup. That is, if youre drinking a Guiness then you have to have a cup with Guiness written on it. If they dont have it (well, a clean on) they will apologise profusely.
When you buy a spirit mixed drink, bourbon and coke, you get the shot in a glass and a mini bottle. Convient if you are sharing, two shots and one bottle, not if youre by yourself.
Remember the chips with curry? You also get chips with your Irish breakfast. Yea. Although no one really seems to be up before 12 anyway. Lunch time is always quite late, probably because everyone eats brunch. Our deticated lunch time was roughly 2.30 and restaurants are empty until 1pm.
The Irish are also very hospitable, on every table in every restaurant, there is a little bowl of sauce packets. English mustard, mayonaise, tomato ketchup (keeping a nice balance between American and Australian English) and brown sauce which assumedly, based off taste, is barbeque sauce.
There must be a large amount of tourists in Ireland because every cafe and restaurant understands the need for wifi. Often advertised, sonetimes with a password there is wifi everywhere.
Even when in a bus one must wear a seat belt, or risk commiting ani llegal offense. When riding a bicycle you dont need a helmet. Go figure.
The houses in the country side (not in Dublin though because they are made out of castles) are long walls with doors and windows. The only way you know where one house ends and the other begins is the colour. The wall-of-houses is painted various colours: red, white, blue, green, yellow, seperating one from another.
It doesnt matter whether you asked for it or not, bought only a €1 of water or something much more expensive, you will, get a reciept.
And why? Why!? Are there American flags everywhere? Outside every pub there is the Irish, patriotic, lovely. Then some other country flags, lots of foriegners, okay. But the American flag is consistent.
Ireland, you are beautiful. See you again.
Ps. I love you.

Julie Garner That's because America is awesome. Let's be honest. Haha.... Just kidding just kidding. But in reality it is because we Americans love to feel at home. And seeing an American flag is inviting to us. (Additionally, it was the 4th of July, our national holiday the other day, so maybe that might explain the flag's presence.)
Sarah Brown Hey Julie, At first I thought maybe it was cuz of July 4th but I was there for Canada day and there wasnt an increased amount of Canadian flags... Although now, Im in Greece and the Aussie flag is at my hostel with tge EU flag and Greek flag! That is easily reflecting how much Aussie tourists are dominating the place though!!
