We have officially retired for 10 weeks which is good so back to living out of a suitcase and hostels!!! Left Sydney 2 weeks ago and headed up the coast to Coffs Harbour for a nite and then to Byron Bay for 4 nights which was very chilled and relaxing! Stayed in the Arts Factory Hostel in Byron sleeping in a teepee which was pretty cool, waking up to wild bush turkeys and iguanas running around the hostel grounds, great place to stay and recharge! After Byron we headed to Mermaid Beach (surfers paradise) and met up with Cheggz, Ri, and Phil the treat which was funny! Had a good knees up at the Broadbeach blues festival on the friday nite which ended in us sat in a limo courtesy of Phil that blatently wasn't for us but it was worth a try..... then had a BBQ around Cheggz and Ri's saturday morning before they took us out for the day to Mount Tambourine which had mega views of the city! We found a 'lost dog' running down the high street as we were about to leave so we tried to do the good thing and find out where she lived which ended in a 1.5 hr wild goose chase knocking on doors etc, she was a lovely dog tho and we couldn't have just let her run wild all nite as it was pretty cold on the mountain + it led us to meet some 'interesting' people! Luckily an elderly lady came to the rescue and offered to take her in for the nite and find out where the owners lived the following day which was good so our deed for the day was complete.
We then headed up to Noosa for a night and stayed at Dolphins hostel which again was a smart place. We did the coastal walk from Sunshine Beach to Main Beach which just so happened to cross a nudist beach en route full of men with their shlongs out, mmm mmm.... Yummy!
We're currently recovering in Rainbow Beach after a 3 day off-road camping trip to Fraser Island. Although the weather was pretty s***e we had an amazing time with an awesome group of people! We were in a car with a Dutch couple (Iris and Will), a couple from Glasgow (Sandie and Pete) and two girls from Landan (Fran and Liv) who were all up for a laugh and became our adopted family for the trip! The Dingoes were causing havoc ripping into peoples tents and rummaging through peoples bags, they even pulled Pete's ipad from his tent which luckily he found minus the leather cover which had been ripped to shreds! We saw a sea snake too which is the first wild snake we've seen since being away!! Our camera broke on Fraser tho which is tres annoying so we've gotta share pics with the others in our group so they'll be on here shortly!
The greyhound will be here in 30 mins heading up to 1770 and Agnes Water so gotta get our things ready now for the 6hr trip!! Only 12 days left in OZ and its going rediculously fast but still have loads to look forward too before we head to Asia! Gonna make a concious effort to keep this updated now that we're on the move again and hopefully get a camera sorted ASAP to keep the pics coming!
Loving all these places that we're able to see and the people that we're meeting and hope it continues this way!!
