We took a nice long walk, as far as the famous hippy market, after dinner.
It is very early season in es Cana and it doesn't feel quite awake yet. I think this adds to it's charm. Reminiscent of gorleston in October but warm, clean and fragrant.
I think maybe the ibizans kick their dogs out of the house about 9 at night. I have only seen a couple of dogs on leads during the day but for one moment, last night, I thought we were back at yashi beach due to the number of dogs wandering around unaccompanied Dogs of all breeds, shape and sizes. As a newcomer to foreign travel I am often amazed at the difference in popular dog breeds to those in England.
We stopped for a drink at a very modern looking bar with a luminous colour changing Dj, pool, loungers and cabanas .... But not that side, we walked to the other side with a wheelchair ramp, disabled loo and mini children's slide... We know our place.
One side young people (30 something's, young compared to the clientele at our hotel) sipping fluorescent cocktails, the other side old people, the infirm and very young sipping hot chocolate, coffee and a medicinal figola (local herb aperitif rumoured to settle your stomach).
On our short walk back, as more bars and activities were opened, it was easy to imagine what this resort would be like in the height of the season..... Great Yarmouth on steroids but hot, clean and fragrant with the whiff of lager and Guinness with a little bit of bratwurst thrown in.
