Our next stop was the lovely sleepy town of Hoi An. Here we fell in love with this town, it could partially be down to the fact we were in an actual hotel instead of a dorm!
This town is renowned for its tailoring. So not to miss out on the bandwagon we headed off to Kimmy's tailor which had been recommended to us. It was a two day process, first we went in and were each given a laptop to browse of all the designs they could replicate. We all decided to get coats made (not our smartest idea when you consider it was nearly 40 degrees and still had 10days travelling left with our already jam packed rucksacks! But in the air-conditioned shop it seemed a great plan). Over the two days it amazing to see how quickly and efficiently the seamstresses had the clothes ready for between the initial consultation, the first fitting the next morning and the final fitting that evening.
While the seamstresses began to make our coats we took the time to explore the town. One of the streets was had stalls stretching the whole way down with Vietnamese prints and trinkets. Some of the stalls were overflowing with lit up lanterns. There were lanterns everywhere you turned, even floating down the river.
After our first fitting we decided to rent mopeds and head to the beach. Again not one of our smartest ideas considering I had never driven anything before and the Vietnamese drivers are crazy. But we were foolhardy and fearless so off we went, after a few wobbly minutes in the beginning thankfully it all worked out ok,
We enjoyed Hoi An so much we decided to stay an extra night before heading to Da Nang.
