Even as a little girl, I always wanted to explore the world. I grew up listening to stories from my Mum about her time volunteering as a nurse in Calcutta, India. Everything sounded so exotic and unusual, I wanted to go and see it for myself. So fast forward a good few years, sitting in a dreary office in Dublin I got a message from Caitriona and Sal suggesting a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia, I didn't need to hesitate, I was in. A few days later everything was booked and the countdown was on until July!
The day before our trip my beloved Granda passed away suddenly. However, the following morning I was pushed onto the plane in tears, being told I would regret not going... and they were right.
After a horribly long flight we land into Hanoi. It our first experience of an Asian city, and it sucked us in immediately. Everything was so overpowering, there were people everywhere, the noise of the hustle and bustle of the city, the smells of all the street vendors food, and the pure fear trying to cross the road without being hit by a moped. We were off to a great start.
